volleyceline Posted July 5, 2011 at 07:22 PM Posted July 5, 2011 at 07:22 PM Who was keeping up with the Casey Anthony murder trial? I just saw on tv, she was found NOT guilty on all murder counts, only guilty on counts of lying to officials. She will be released, free to go, on Thursday. http://news.yahoo.com/casey-anthony-acquit...-191600480.html Disgusting... Tyler1991 Posted July 5, 2011 at 07:49 PM Posted July 5, 2011 at 07:49 PM (edited) There was a lot of doubt in the case, so I'm not overly surprised with the verdict. Casey was obviously a terrible mother. She lied and lied and lied....she waited 31 days before reporting her child missing. That obviously shown that she had no regard for the care of her child, and the pictures of her partying during this time support that. However, there is nothing to prove that SHE killed Caylee. Just evidence that shows she was a terrible mother. One thing we have to keep in mind is this: on a jury, it is COMPLETELY different than sitting here in front of the TV. We all have our opinions, but let's remember - these are opinions, NOT facts. We don't have a fact that says she killed her daughter. On the jury, you NEED to have facts. You can't let that opinion get in the way, because it is your utmost duty to only convict if you have facts that prove beyond a reasonable doubt...and those facts were simply not there. Tyler1991 Posted July 5, 2011 at 11:59 PM Posted July 5, 2011 at 11:59 PM Didn't investigators find something in the trunk of her car that lead them to believe that there was a dead body in there? And if she waited a whole month to report her daughter missing that says a lot! They had a testimony that it "smelled like death" ....but that is not certain by any means. And even if it did, it is not able to be "proven beyond a reasonable doubt" that the smell would have been from Caylee. So this didn't prove anything. If SHE didn't kill Caylee, then WHO did??? If she drowned in the pool then why was she found in the woods with duct tape on her face? Yeah, exactly. But nothing was proven. ^ That's what I said!!! But the news anchors made it clear that it's not the jury's responsibility to find out who did it, only to decide whether she was guilty or not What a cruel ending for that little girl. Exactly. The only thing the jury had to answer was not who killed caylee....but whether or not Casey did. All the evidence was circumstantial. There was nothing concrete. Quote
volleyceline Posted July 6, 2011 at 12:04 AM Author Posted July 6, 2011 at 12:04 AM I was hearing that the members of a jury all had some sort of difficulties in their past, whether it be drugs or crimes, but maybe they're sympathizing with Casey, giving her the second chance they didn't get. celine-rc Posted July 6, 2011 at 12:21 AM Posted July 6, 2011 at 12:21 AM I can't believe it. The same thing happened today to a guy here in Québec who also murdered his two children... Tyler1991 Posted July 6, 2011 at 12:31 AM Posted July 6, 2011 at 12:31 AM I don't think it's about second chances though. I think it's about the jury looking at all the evidence and seeing that their wasn't anything that tied her to murdering her daughter. Everything was circumstantial. There was nothing that placed her at the scene of a crime. And one more huge detail - they still haven't even figured out a cause of death on the child. So she lied about the universal studios job she had...she lied about a babysitter who supposedly had her during the 31 days...and then later admitted to her mom that it was kidnapped by a babysitter...also a lie. Then there was the car "smelling of death and human decomp" ....still circumstantial because it's not like there is DNA that can prove Caylee's body was in the car. All the chloraform searches on the computer....well that's meaningless when a cause of death hadn't been determined. And then she claimed there being a drowning in a pool and that's how Caylee really died...it's just all a mess. It's full of lies. It's confusing. But the bottom line is that the prosecution only knows that Casey left June 16th with Caylee, and then on July 15th Cindy reported her missing ....and then Casey admitted she had been gone since the 16th and came up with various lies... the 31 days in between show that she was a terrible mother. She was partying, getting tattoos, drinking, having sex, etc...while her daughter was missing. She had no regard for the fact she was gone... but that doesn't prove anything. It just proves she was a bad person. Quote
ThisTime Posted July 6, 2011 at 01:57 AM Posted July 6, 2011 at 01:57 AM & Always remember that if they were proven not guilty, it does not mean they were proven as innocent. No matter how Caylee died Casey obviously had a hand in it. She had a hand in not reporting her missing. In the end, as Tyler pointed out, you can't prove her as guilty. Obviously there are a lot of signs leading to believe that she did, but then there are a lot of signs that it was an accident that she tried to cover up. None of us will ever know what really happened to poor Caylee, so let's just hope to god that Casey eventually told the truth & she had not intentionally caused this upon Caylee. zuv Posted July 6, 2011 at 04:18 AM Posted July 6, 2011 at 04:18 AM (edited) Well everybody knows she killed her daughter, probably the jury even knows that as well. Although no solid proof connected tot mom with the death of caylee. We all know she did it. But what if? What if all thoses evidences were just coincidences? There is 1 chance out of a million that she did not do it. Its still a chance. If found guilty, it was death penalty. Was the jury ready to risk to put a woman to death, because she sounded like a terrible mother and who seemed like she could be her daughter's killer? We know OJ did it.We know Casey did it.We know Robert Durst did it. But no proof = not guilty Edited July 6, 2011 at 04:24 AM by zuv Quote

PriscillaBarragan Posted July 8, 2011 at 07:08 AM Posted July 8, 2011 at 07:08 AM I've been keeping up with this trial & I am shocked. But I do agree with both sides on this. She may have not done it, there's that 1 in a million chance still. But there's an even more likely chance that she did. Lying about all that stuff is ridiculous. I wonder how her parents feel about it all. That must be horrible to watch the child you raised & loved (still a little iffy on her dad) be charged with murder for her own child. But people will lie to get out of jail for life or death in her case I believe? I mean I'd be scared out mind if they were gonna kill me if I was proven guilty. But anyway this reminds me of I'm gonna say a woman my mom knows a woman & shes been charged with somethig like this (not gonna say but extremely similar to this) & she's been lying to get out of jail. So people will do a lot to not be locked up for life. Quote

Lymon Posted July 22, 2011 at 04:08 PM Posted July 22, 2011 at 04:08 PM It's not fair whatsoever, but i'm a firm believer in karma. What goes around comes around. OJ got away with murder too, and he's now in jail. Casey will get what's coming to her one day. I do believe she did it, and even if she didn't, the way she acted was completely unprofessional, shady, and reckless. Although, legally, what bothers me is that she wasn't convinced on the lesser charge of child negligence in Florida. That holds a heavy sentence of about 10 to 12 years. If nothing else, that can be completely proven that she was a negligent mother and she should get that sentence. It bothers me that she won't get that, at the VERY LEAST. She was convinced of falsifying police information or something, but they said her time has been served with the 3 years, so she's free to do whatever. Quote http://i51.tinypic.com/2uf4r5f.png
