I don't know if this was already a topic but sorry if it was. I just was thinking about it.

I was in 7th grade I think and in our classroom. All of a sudden an announcement was made on the overhead speakers and my teacher turned on the television. We had to stay in our room. I really did not understand what was going on at the time. I just watched the TV and saw it said that planes were hijacked. I was like "What does hijack mean?" lol I knew it was bad what happened but I guess at the time I did not fully understand the situation.

I wasn't really that old when it happened, and I was in Denmark... So I never really realized what happend until a few years later. But I remember that all of the 1st graders gathered in a room and the teachers asked for a momnet of silence, and we were quiet for like 5 mins, but I don't think alot of us knew what was going on... :(

I think I was in Kindergarten, and we saw another teacher run in and whisper something to our teacher, but that was it. Then I got home and my mom explained it, and I realize it was a big deal cuz it was flooded on every tv channel.

I was in my first grade classroom and we had a short prayer session but we didn't know what was going on. When I went home that day I remember watching people's videos on tv. I didn't really understand it

I had just come down from changing into my Uniform, and I sate on my Mom's lap. We both started to Cry, I was in Grade in six when that happen. It was my Science teachers Birthday, nice gift. We did nothing that day, No School work got done. The teachers didn't teach, we were all in a daze. We couldn't believe what was happening that day, we listen to it on the radio, and on my Math's teachers laptop. I still remember, it like it was yesterday.

I was in fourth grade. I remember a teacher came and knocked on our door and there was a lot of hushed whispering. The teacher then turned on the tv and my mouth just dropped. No one could believe it. I remember everyone was getting signed out so it had to be serious and then I got signed out. We went home and just watched it all unfold on the tv. I remember sitting on the bookcase watching them fall and seeing the plane crash into them when they played the video back. Everyone was scared because we lived near a nuclear plant and everyone was afraid it would get bombed.

Well since I'm on the west coast, I found out everything later than everyone else. I woke up about 6-30 that morning and I heard it coming from the living room TV where my Father sat every morning watching the news. I turned on my own TV and heard it. I went to a Private Baptist christian school at the time, so our principal, who, lucky me was also our high school teacher, had a short prayer and devotional service with our class while each teacher handled their own class in a hopefully age-appropriate manner.

Later when I got home, we didn't turn the TV off the whole day until it was time to go to bed.

Amazing it has been 10 years, and, whatever our views, it is safe to say that we are still dealing with the affects.

Well I'm not American, but I remember it so clearly when it happened! I was 16 and I had just come home from school and was doing my math work, when someone in our family opened the tv and said that there was some special broadcast going on. And I went to see and I saw it live on tv when the towers collapsed.. Huh, it was horrible!! :o I also can't believe it's been almost 10 years! Feels more recent.

And I remember that I was really scared when I had to fly home from France two years after, in September 2003, near the 11th, I was scared that something was gonna happen to that plane too, that someone was going to hijack it or something....

I would say it will be remember and not forgotten who lost there lives It was a very terrible and sad day,I work in the aviation industry and clearly remember that day I was watching the news before going to work at the airport.I arrived at Birmingham airport{UK} to find the entrance of the airport closed but was able to still get to the staff car park.got to work that we were still accepting diverted flights international been turned round back to the uk and other airports.by about 6pm the airport was totally silent the terminal was full of stranded passengers for several days.

I thought I would share that with everyone how badly small airports got affected too in europe I would say it was a nightmare trying to get passengers to hotels and back home etc.

I was 13 years old, at home, I had just finished my homework for school and I was watching my favourite (at the time) tv serial, Xena, wich was suddenly interrupted by a special edition of the TV breaking news. I remember I was really scared, I was alone with my sister because my parents were at work, and we stood up in front of the television...then my mom phoned us and we finally realized how terrible the fact was.

What a sad moment...OMG... :teary:

I had gotten home from school (I was in high school at the time) and was doing my homework in the kitchen. My dad came home from work and said something about a plane having crashed into a building in New York. They had been talking about it on the radio. My dad turned on the TV and we started watching the broadcast like :o .

11 september 2001 is a day I'll never forget... I still know exactly what I was doing when the tragic events happened... Like some may know I'm involved in the fire services as a fire photographer and as a president of a large non profit organisation for emergency personnel. I come from a family of firefighters and the fire department was (or still is) my second home...

It was passed noon here in Belgium when my boss ran from the stairs and was yelling... Stijn, Stijn... Look on the internet, put the radio on a newschannel something is happening in New York... These were his exact words he spoke nearly 10 years ago (but then in Dutch)... I changed the radiostation to the newschannel and I heard the news... A plane had crashed into the WTC tower in New York... Back in those days, high speed internet wasn't as high speed as now and thus it took a while to find something on the net... CNN was down and ran only an emergency site, several other sites like ABC, FOX, NY Times, BBC were simply unreachable... We all stood there in my office and listened to the news... Seconds later the tone of the news changed dramatically... A second plane had crashed into the other WTC tower and it was clear that it wasn't an accident... The words "the US is inder attack" were spoken on the news... Somewhat later the news of the Pentagon crash came in followed by the last crash into the field... We all went to home... Our boss said: go all home, there's no need to work anymore... And that for something that happened thousands of miles away... Nobody spoke and everyone went home to watch tv... Home I put on CNN and at that moment they had images of the buildings collapsing down... It was just unbelievable... Though I never went to the USA at that time the images of the "twin towers" where something that everyone, young and old, knew... The twin towers where true icons, they belonged in NY's skyline and NY was famous through it...

Later the first numbers came in, hundreds of cassulties which changed quickly into numbers that "exceeds" thousand or more... Much later the news came in that loads of emergency personnel had died when the towers collapsed, the exact number would later be known... 343 members of the FDNY, 23 officers of the NYPD, 37 officers of the PAPD and 8 other EMT's where killed... A total of 411 emergency workers died in the events...

A couple of weeks later we had our bi-annual open house day at the fire departement, we had made a place where people could write down some words, we had pictures of the events, a special drill was performed during the day to honor our lost collegues from the USA...

It's a saying that the firedepartments all over the world are one huge family... This tragic event showed that it's true... We feld like our own where killed, we feld terrible throughout the days, weeks,... after the tragic events... Belgian firefighters, emergency personnel jumped onto planes and flew to New York to help with the search... Just like dozens other countries did... Even today there is still a reminder to the tragic events in the hall of the firedepartment, we still have FDNY helmet and a US flag on display 10 years after the tragic day...

For me it was also a bit personnal, weeks later I learned that one of the fire fighters who died was one of the guys I chatted regulary with...

I had a half day from work and got home @ 12.30 and I always check the news and was in the kitchen making some lunch and chilling out and I could hear the tv from the kitchen and they mentioned that a plane hit the twin tower, and they were not sure at that stage was size of plane or the full story, so I sat and watched the news and then it showed the first shot of the tower, and as they were showing it live I seen the second plane hit... a very sad day.

We were having a general meeting at work when one of our colleagues got a call from her husband about the attack, but she didn't realise how serious this was and didn't tell anyone.

So after work I came home with some colleagues (we had a funeral later that evening and decided to eat together at our place). My husband was sitting in front of the television in total shock. He had been watching for hours. He was skipping through the channels earlier that day when he saw the news. Thinking it was some kind of movie at first. Then he realised it was for real. Moments later he saw the second plane crashing the second tower live on tv. He told us about what happened. We did have dinner and did go to the funeral, but the rest of the time all we did was watch tv.

I was in 1st grade. I know it happened in the morning but living on the West Coast things were pretty slow as far as news goes. Well I didn't know but I think my grandparents did. I remember the news being on & I was just sitting in the kitchen eating then all of a sudden it changes to an airplane crashing into the tower. I think it was the second one, not sure but my grandma was crying. I knew what was going on and I was scared to go outside because I thought a plane would just go and crash into my huse.

It's amazing how this Twin Tower incident really affects us still. It proves that we're still one big family even though we all have our differences like politics, religion etc. Tragedies can really bring you together.

I remember I was just going to pick my son up from primary school when a BBC newsflash came on TV and said the first tower had been hit but they were not sure if it was an accident at the time,I turned over to CNN and was horrified and felt physically sick as I watched the other plane hit the second tower,I knew at this point as did everyone else that this was an attack of some sort,I remember crying and feeling so helpless as I saw those poor people stuck in the towers and people running around down below and away from the area with a look of terror on their faces, that feeling of helplessness was soon replaced by a feeling of anger toward the people who had done this,it is a day that will never be forgotten for all the wrong reasons.........God Bless All who lost loved ones on that day, they will never be forgotten.

I was 2 years old, but I vaguely remember it. (I have an amazing memory) I was sitting on the floor playing with a toy and my mother was crying terribly. I only remember that much because my mother was crying so much. It was a sad day for America. A sad day for most countries. I wanna say that my step dad had to go to Iraq after that happened, but I don't know cuz my parents didn't divorce till I was 7 and I never asked him. But I'm 70% sure that he did Edited by ddmone99

You'll never see the courage i know. It's colours richness won't appear within your view. I'll never glow the way that you glow. Your presence dominates the judgements made on you.

But as the scenery grows, I see in different lights. The shades and shadow undulate in my perception. My feelings swell and strech, I see from greater heights. I understand what I am still too proud to mention to you.

You'll say you understand. But you don't understand. You'll say you'd never give up seeing eye to eye. But never is a promise and you can't afford to lie.

You'll never touch the things that I hold. The skin of my emotions lies beneath my own. You'll never feel the heat of this soul. My fever burns me deeper than I've ever shown.

But as the scenery grows, I see in different lights. The shades and shadows undulate in my perception. My feelings swell and strech, I see from greater heights. I realize what i am now too smart to mention to you.

You'll say you understand. You'll never understand. I'll say I'll never wake up knowing how or why. I don't know what to believe in. You don't know who I am. You'll say I need appeasing when i start to cry. But never is a promise and I'll never need a lie.
