Kyle_Jared Posted June 22, 2011 at 10:23 PM Posted June 22, 2011 at 10:23 PM Why is her record label so damn slow to Certify her catalog????? These two bottom figures are captured from sales in October 2010....almost a year ago. RIAA certifys based on SHIPMENT and according to these figures, "My Love" should be GOLD and "All The Way" 8x Platinum. Plus, "My Love" has sold near 600K in the UK and still does not even have a Silver certification let alone the double platinum it should!! Madonna's "Celebration" greatest hits collection released the same time did only about 200K in sales in the US and was certified Gold AGES ago. Sorry just makes me angry! 108 DION*CELINE ALL THE WAY-A DECADE OF SONG 1,281 2 1,261 7,927,254113 DION*CELINE MY LOVE-ESSENTIAL COLLECTION 1,272 9 1,164 439,835 Quote

pat200 Posted June 23, 2011 at 06:02 AM Posted June 23, 2011 at 06:02 AM ATW should be 9xP because it sold 1.1 million through BMG music club. So its total is at least 9 million.... Quote

wjd Posted June 23, 2011 at 03:45 PM Posted June 23, 2011 at 03:45 PM Okay: Falling Into You - 10,785,000 Soundscan, 0.98m BMG + other record club sales mean this album has shipped AT LEAST enough for 12x platinum. Considering that when this was at its peak, Soundscan had market coverage of around 76%, its Soundscan sales are not at all a comprehensive estimation of the album's total success. I estimate that the album has shipped around 13m copies in the US. In the UK, its shipped around 2,25m copies. Lets Talk About Love - 9,465,000 Soundscan + 1m BMG + other record club sales, and the allowance for Soundscan's less than comprehensive market coverage at this time, I estimate total shipments of around 11,500,000 copies. In the UK, its shipped around 2,100,000 copies, and I think its eligible for 7x Platinum. All The Way...A Decade Of Song - sold 7,934,000 Soundscan + 1.1m+ BMG + other record club sales. I have its total US album shipments at 9,200,000 after looking at Soundscan & BMG. When you factor in Columbia, and other smaller clubs + Soundscan's less than comprehensive coverage when the album was released, I estimate that this is almost certainly Dion's third diamond album in the US [i.e. 10,000,000 copies shipped]. My Love...Ultimate Essential Collection - 435,000+ Soundscan [club sales are dead now and Soundscan has 97% market coverage so there won't be many "missing" sales]. Depending on the next update, this might have shipped 500,000 copies in the states. The reason Madonna was certified Gold was because the majority of her shipments came from a double disc edition of Celebration. If depends how Celine's My Love was distributed; i.e. whether the double disc edition was shipped or the single disc, as RIAA count a double disc album as two copies shipped. In the UK, the album has sold AT LEAST 625,000 copies, and I estimate its shipments to be over 650,000 copies. Its also her fourth album with the longest time spent on the UK charts. Mega success! Over 2,400,000 copies shipped worldwide. I will soon publish my Celine estimations to my new site; however, for the time being these are my provisional estimates of her sales by country: USA - 61,405,000France - 16,940,000Canada - 13,510,000 + 2,000,000 from "other albums" = 15,510,000UK - 11,305,000Japan - 8,245,000+ [certain albums I can't estimate nationally; instead I've placed an estimate on the whole of Asia, based on press clippings and such like]Germany - 6,810,000Australia - 3,078,000Netherlands - 2,960,000 3 Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?

sfbaysinger Posted June 24, 2011 at 05:13 AM Posted June 24, 2011 at 05:13 AM I think the creator of this topic has a right to be angry, she's one of Sony's greatest assettes and they should be doing everything/anything they can to promote her and serve and help her expand even more so in any way they can. I ask, again, how come we care more than they do/ If they only knew how we love her...whatever!! (groan)!Great topic! Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle!

Kyle_Jared Posted August 7, 2016 at 08:09 PM Author Posted August 7, 2016 at 08:09 PM Just realized it's been five years ago since I started this thread and ATW is now over 8 Million in sales in America (and still only certified 7 X Platinum) and My Love: Essential is over half a million and not certified Gold. All the press lately just has been wishing they're re-certifiy some of her stuff! .....Especially All The way. Also with the new RIAA rules she has a bunch of songs digitally that could get some certifications. And with the new Sales plus Streaming, Loved Me Back To Life might be close to Gold (did about 300K in physical sales) 2 Quote

Critiaslux Posted August 8, 2016 at 09:53 PM Posted August 8, 2016 at 09:53 PM Celine is undercertified. I am wondering why nothing is done about it. I hope Aldo takes care of this in the future...! Well if I were Aldo, I would be waiting for the release of the next English album. They could use the new certif as a marketing coup, especially if ATW can achieve the Diamond status in the USA. 😉 1 Quote
Leo Posted August 9, 2016 at 04:27 PM Posted August 9, 2016 at 04:27 PM A smart move would be asking for certifications just before the new English-language release so that they can use the facts in the press release, you know "5 time Grammy winner", "200 million records sold" kind of thing. It's a pity ATW sells next to nothing nowadays in the USA since selling 500k more would mean a third Diamond album in the USA. "My Love" is close to reaching 1 million copies sold in the UK (roughly 60,000 copies shy). It stand a chance because it's her best-selling catalog album there and still re-enters the Top 200 from time to time. When it reaches 1 million, Celine will have 5 million-selling albums in the UK! 1 Quote
Kyle_Jared Posted August 9, 2016 at 07:50 PM Author Posted August 9, 2016 at 07:50 PM Yes, usually in the past that's when Celine's catalogue was re-certifed. With Sales plus Streaming These Are Special Times might be 6 x platinum by next year too. Quote
