Guest Reuben Posted March 23, 2011 at 01:54 AM Posted March 23, 2011 at 01:54 AM Yes it is sang by Janis Ian, but is it a bossa nova style song? Bossa nova is latin/Brazilian samba rhythm, it has a lot in common with both jazz and blues. To use wikis definition bossa nova is more swaying than swinging. Bossa nova lyrics are usually related to longing and youth. As for At Seventeen, I wouldnt say its strictly bossa nova, although it does have a samba rhythm to it. Definitely Brazilian inspired music. Other non latin music with bossa nova rhythm would be "Fly me to the moon" (might be wrong with that one but there is inspiration taken from samba) and George Michaels "Jesus to a Child" Quote
Javier_Natalio Posted March 23, 2011 at 02:46 PM Posted March 23, 2011 at 02:46 PM I'd say YES. Quote
