Chula Posted March 19, 2011 at 03:01 AM Posted March 19, 2011 at 03:01 AM As I watch the clips, there are no visual effect on the gigantic screen during some songs. Or is it just that second the video clip was recorded? Any fans who have been to the show please describe the best of the screen look like? What about LCMM? Quote
Your_Su_Phu Posted March 19, 2011 at 05:40 AM Posted March 19, 2011 at 05:40 AM I actually heard one (professional) review that said that the LED screen was surprisingly the least impressive aspect of this show as compared to AND where it was a central part of the show Quote
LVCeline Posted March 19, 2011 at 07:05 AM Posted March 19, 2011 at 07:05 AM After seeing the show on opening night I was underwhelmed by the screen content as well but that's because I was too concerned with Celine. After going the second night I was able to pay more attention and I think it's much better than A New Day was. AND had some decent images, but this new show has some crazy effects. The Bond Medley was one of the better examples. The whole interlude before the actual medley was incredible. They took a LOT of time and effort to make a whole scene that went along with the music as well as the Bond concept. During Live and Let Die there was this whole dramatic battle between huge explosions of fire and water. It was like the water was fighting the fire, so when the song got slow, the water extinguished all the fire and then when it got dramatic again the explosions and fire came back. It wasn't cheesy fire like I Surrender, this stuff was extremely visually realistic. The Reason had amazing visuals as well. They dropped down this big wall of flowery looking things and on the screen had several large flowers that blooomed and sparkled during the song; it was stunning. MHWGO had an amazing ocean horizon with rippling water and a bridge and as the song progressed it gradually faded into a gorgeous orange and pink colored sunset. The holograms were also pretty technologically incredible. They used large screens on both sides of the stage which weren't used in A New Day as well which projected various things during the show...Ella Fitzgerald in front of a back drop of flowers, and then MJ's silhoette for the MJ medley. They used something for IACBTM and TPOL medley as well I just can't remember exactly. Of course we saw Open Arms with the tinsel looking backdrop and Celine in the middle up close. I thought that was amazingly classy. Then they showed her entire frame up on the screen during Ne Me Quitte Pas in black and white for an "old" and dated effect. They used the side screens to project Celine and Stevie during their duet and the showed Celine on the screens while singing her own duet. Can't forget the use of lighting and such throughout the show as well. The use of fog and lasers was pretty amazing during ABM. They used a ton of different lighting effects on the stage steps as well, they lit up different colors and exploded color during certain parts of songs, like the dramatic violin part in IACBTM just after the intro and just before she starts singing, and they had some really amazing lighting during the DOL interlude and then the LCMM and RDMH songs. Sure there are a few songs where the screen isn't used much, but it's not like there aren't other things going on. They are making use of the side screens and dropping down miniature screens and such when there's nothing on the big screen. They also use the curtain as a visual for some of the songs. The stage steps were broken up into a few pieces and moved around for certain songs as well...Overall I was extremely impressed the second time seeing it when I didn't focus as much on Celine and took in everything else that was going on. I think this show beats A New Day on every level quite honestly. It's more refined, classy, elegant, vocal, technical, musical, etc...sure there aren't dancers, an usher, and a mime in this show, but as a whole it's just much more cohesive I think. Quote
Chula Posted March 21, 2011 at 03:18 AM Author Posted March 21, 2011 at 03:18 AM I found the clip of , a bit boring for me as the screen has only one color!!! Quote
Chula Posted March 21, 2011 at 05:05 AM Author Posted March 21, 2011 at 05:05 AM Really impressive P.S. The end credit of A NEW DAY says 'projection content', not screen Quote
mirage Posted March 21, 2011 at 04:00 PM Posted March 21, 2011 at 04:00 PM Believe me The reason is sooo amazing to hear and see!!!! The wall of flowers is amazing!! It's just plain white but dying te song it changes and it sparkles etc!! So amazing to see!!! And yeah the bond medley the lighting is just perfect, it really matches the music and is very powerful!! Think it's much better and brighter then AND I think... Quote
SuperLove4Celine Posted March 21, 2011 at 05:40 PM Posted March 21, 2011 at 05:40 PM The most cheesy imagery during the show is "Beauty And The Beast." Although, considering it's from a cartoon movie I can sort of "see where they were coming from". I think it needs work, though. Quote
Bralo20 Posted March 21, 2011 at 06:46 PM Posted March 21, 2011 at 06:46 PM I found the resolution of the screen quite disappointing... I've seen much better screens then the LED screen used in the show... The smaller screens were OK but those were regular projections rather then being an LED screen... Quote ...
Thomas Posted March 21, 2011 at 06:47 PM Posted March 21, 2011 at 06:47 PM During the WDMHBN clip I posted in the opening night topic, you can see them moving white boards down from the ceiling and they project video onto them. They don't appear to be LED screens, just plain boards. So there are obviously the huge LED screens around the sides and at the back but they must have small projections too. Quote
mirage Posted March 21, 2011 at 07:11 PM Posted March 21, 2011 at 07:11 PM I thought the screens next to the stage were also just plain boards...I sat next to them and I think they were projection on that as well, because it did get a little over the boards. I love the WDMHBN videoscreens amazing to see, should use them more, maye for the MHWGO performance they have a lot of footage of that song so! And I agree the BATB projection looked a bit cheap, the chandelier looked horrible!! They should had used the images from the movie! That ballroom looked real!!!Or let down an golden chandelier! But who knows maybe it will change, I get the whole point of it but it could have been better... Quote

Bralo20 Posted March 21, 2011 at 07:36 PM Posted March 21, 2011 at 07:36 PM The weird thing is that the LED screen is in fact a "high definition" LED screen (I just found details about it) and it didn't seem so... Maybe the screen itself wasn't calibrated correctly or the computers operating the screen weren't set right... The projection screens were much better quality... Hmm... I've searched a bit and apparently the LED screen is still the original one installed in 2003 and build by Mitsubishi. The screen is actually owned by CDA productions and is "technically" not part of the Colosseum though it makes a fixed part of it. All other performers in the Colosseum are leasing the screen from CDA. It weighs over 30 tons and its made out of over 5 million LED, capable of playing HD content... Quote ...
LVCeline Posted March 21, 2011 at 07:36 PM Posted March 21, 2011 at 07:36 PM Yeah, the chandelier for BATB looked really fuzzy to me. Almost like you'd need 3D glasses or something. I thought it was a cute idea, but it definitely was poor quality. Quote

I think it needs work, though. yeah seriously. the animation from beauty and the beast was gorgeous though, in particular the 3d ish ballroom dance scene. it would've looked better had they just used footage from the movie Quote
anewdayhascome Posted March 26, 2011 at 02:57 PM Posted March 26, 2011 at 02:57 PM it's not impressive for me as for now... and maybe i'm strange but those videos during WDMHBN are a bit odd... it's a good idea though I don't know if it is shown the right way Quote A New Day... 10th & 11th November 2006 Taking Chances World Tour, Antwerp 13th & 14th May 2008, Kraków 28th June 2008 Celine 25th & 27th & 31st August 2013 20th, 23rd, 24th, 27th & 28th September 2016 Sans attendre Tour, Paris 1st & 5th December 2013 Encore un soir, Paris 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th June & 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th July 2016 Live 2017 Stockholm 17th June 2017 Lille 1st & 2nd July 2017 Paris 8th & 9th July 2017 Berlin 23rd & 24th July 2017 Live 2018 Taipei 11th & 13th July 2018 Manila 19th July 2018 Bangkok 23rd July 2018 BST Hyde Park London 5 July 2019
