The new 3 year run of Vegas she's facing now. I'm not sure she's doing 100% what she wants,

wow, never thought that there could ever be that posibility, really, how do we know this either way, not accusing you of not knowing your stuff at all, just...wow...

and I'm not sure either if this is what she really wants to do or it's René's whishes what are behind

I wish we could know what's real for her and what is his idea...that she could speak apart from him even if it's about him sometimes..

Remember she regreted once this adventure when she was about to begin A New Day in 2003,

actually, LOL no I did not know that, did she say that and did she fell that way later on or could it have just been nerves etc.

so who knows what are the real reasons behind this comeback (apart from that of the "stability for her family")

 

Either way i hope she's in to it as I am excited for her. Does anyone know what time the rehearsal show is today? i'm going crazy for her knowing it's only 9 days from now that it starts.

I think so .. and she says "When they asked me to come back for 3 years, i COULDN'T refuse!" .. why she couldn't.. She's wasting her time and impair her voice there ..

Wasting her time? How is that possible? She is going to be amazing and impressing the sh**t out of so many fans...making people's dreams come true...plus she loves to sing...how can this be a waste of time...yes I would soooooooo much rather her do a new album, which she still might, or do another world tour, but singing is what she loves and hearing her is NEVER a waste of time.

Absolutely, Spirit is everywhere, love is in all things, especially Celine, one human physical embodying form of it. I can't see this so I can't comment, but I just want to high-five those noting all the criticism here. I have to stay out of this part because a blind person commenting on looks and styles has absolutely no credibility...but I do want to say there is question and discussion, and then there's picking to death like a scab. I know this is a forum and opinions are what we do here. I believe Celine fans are also some of the most articulate, well-thought out, opinionated people, and maybe this is just my own personal little hang-up but I hate hearing her picked apart like that. I know being a fan does not mean we love every little thing, I just think sometimes we don't sound like fans.

So, could someone describe what her outfit/look overall was?

I want to add that even if I don't like or enjoy the opinion, I thank everyone for sharing their's and respect it. I don't have many friends who like her, so even if there's an aspect of her that we don't like, I am just glad to be somewhere where we are talking about her at least...So thanks. Diversity is important even in a place like this...beautiful like a rainbow...

 

 

Hello sfbaysinger, at the baptism Celine wore a black and white ensemble, quite unusual for her, since it was a white dress with black almost polkadots on it, and topped with a black top with white polkadots on it. "Frida" in this forum has of course already found out the couture designer behind these garments. Check her page.

 

At the Oscar's Celine was voted one of the best dressed women by the fashion reporters (and rightly so) when she wore a white-silver rather low cut long dress with long sleeves, and her hair in half-long soft curls and parted on one side, almost 1940's style.

 

I think some of the concern about her looks in this forum is because she looks tired (understandably so) and that all these events and the new show is too soon after the birth of her wonderful twins.

I do have to wonder if she couldn't get out of her contract by the time she found out she was pregnant, could it already have been too late? who knows, but, either way shw is a pro who has given herself, heart, soul, voice, body to us for almost 30 years now, she knows herself better than we do and I am sure she can handle this if she wants to...

RomualdlovesCeline, well, I don't know about the hindu symbol but it's Greek "omega" letter (the last one in Greek alphabet). It's a very common symbol in Catholic religion. God is refered to be "alpha and omega" in the Bible which stands for "the beginning and the end" = "everything".

 

As for the baptism in general - it's free to everyone who wants to enter into Catholic community and who wants to grow up in this religion. Kids of Catholic families are getting baptised on regular basis but it's also open for adults - those who weren't attached to any religion before or just want to switch into Catholicism.

There are no conditions to get it. It's symbolic and stands for washing off the original sin of Adam & Eve.

 

I'm not sure anymore about the conditions for godparents though, if I'm right they have to be baptised themselves (at least one of them) and possibly also have received the 1st Holy Communion already.

 

Whether the baptised children are continued to indeed be raised in Catholic tradition or not, there's no controlling about that, of course and it happends often, that after baptism and possibly after the 1st Holy Communion, the tradition is not being followed if the child decides to quit the church or at least quit practicing (going to church on regular basis etc.).

Actually , I've always suspected that the Celine/Rene production company still owe a considerable amount of money to the construction companies and producers in Las Vegas. That show was incredibly expensive to produce, not to mention building the entire theatre.

 

Why on earth would they otherwise have maintained that insane show-schedule with Celine performing 5-6 shows a week for 5 years, when Celine has said herself that she tried to cancel the whole show when Rene-Charles was born? And then, to follow it with the world tour with shows almost daily, when no-one was forcing them or even expecting them to perform at such a tight interval? And now this new show, only 3 months after becoming a mother again, and Celine has always said that it was so tough to leave Rene-Charles when he was little to go and perform every night in Las Vegas?

Ok, maybe waste of time is not what i ment. She's been there for 5 years, and now for 3 more.. It's 8 years of her career that she's in Vegas! I know millions of people have seen and going to see her, but not everyone can afford going there! I'm not saying i'm not happy she's doing a new show! And i know it's gonna be amazing!

 

singing is what she loves and hearing her is NEVER a waste of time.

 

If i could HEAR her in Vegas i would never talk like that maybe, but i'm not .. She can do a tour if she want to be seen by million people, is the only choice Vegas? I couldn't understand that.. that's it! I didn't want to sound that rude ..

she looks about 14 to me haha I was joking about that with someone earlier- I think it's just less makeup, not camera/stage makeup, you know? and her hair doesn't have to be as big/perfect. Just a family day. Just a mommy look. The day wasn't about her, so less of everything- sophistication- just like with RC's.

I think the deal is that the godparents are "supposed" to be Catholic...and technically the parents are supposed to raise the child to be a practicing Catholic...but it doesn't always happen.

A lot of it depends on the individual priest running things. Some are super strict and will refuse to baptize/marry/do anything for people not of their congregation. Others are a little more flexible for the sake of not having an empty church all the time... as society becomes more accepting of differences and less keen on tradition, people are moving away from Catholicism.

e.g. My Dad's priest (35 years ago) refused to marry he and my Mother, because my Mum's Anglican. Yet I was baptised Catholic by a different priest- and my Godmother is not Catholic- but it wasn't a problem.

As far as the Vegas shows go, we know she chose to go that way because she is now raising three kids and she wanted them to grow up in a stable home.
