Dionesque Posted January 30, 2011 at 10:23 AM Posted January 30, 2011 at 10:23 AM (edited) First of all, I hope it's ok to start this new topic - I haven't found anything like it here yet and I didn't wanted to mix this subjct into the topic on Fan Meeting or into the topic on hotels & flights. Most of us will come to Las Vegas not only for the days of Céline shows but are staying 5, 7 or even 10 days long in the city. It will be the 1st time in Las Vegas for me and I deffinitely would like to visit other shows/concerts/exhibitions and/ot join some trips/excursions. As a newbie to all things Las Vegas, I think it would be a nice idea to exchange opinions on other shows, see who's going to see what and also get together in groups for shows/trips so we can save money and have more fun in a group than alone! Of course first I'll be waiting to see the complete schedule for ICFFM and the days before/after the premiere. If there will be activities that won't be included in ICDFM schedule but there will be still people who would like to attend than maybe we can shout out small groups for these activities? Like: one person (who rents a car) takes 5-6 people with her/him (depending on the car capacity) and so we can share rent/gasoline costs and go together for a trip or an another. What do you say to that? As for shows, here are a few shows that me/my husband would like to attend (we'll have to choose some of these, not all of them) - is there anyone else interested in viewing these shows? What are the opinions/recomendations of those of you who have already attended any of these shows? Richard Marx at Orleans Showrooms (we already have tickets for that for March 13th, anyone like to join us?) Rat Pack - Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra & Sammy Davies Jr. imitators show Elvis impersonator at Hilton HotelThe BlueMen Group show"Phantom" musical (based on "Phantom of the Opera")"The Lion King" musical Grand CanyonZion national parkThe Platters (+ 2 other bands, don't remember which though) I'm looking forward to your messages! Let's explore Vegas together! Cheerfuljane Posted January 30, 2011 at 12:05 PM Posted January 30, 2011 at 12:05 PM Great idea A few people want to see either KA or O during premiere week, so I'm working on putting a group together on the 17th.Anyone wanna join? Quote
Dionesque Posted January 30, 2011 at 01:07 PM Author Posted January 30, 2011 at 01:07 PM Great plan, Jane! Unfortunately we'll be living Vegas in the afternoon of March 17th, would be great to join you but well, that's not an option for us anymore. Me & my bubby will be in Vegas starting from early afternoon of March 10th so we're looking forward to get together with people who'll be there that early as well. Other Germans are welcome to join us but actually we're open to merge with any other nationalities as long as we can comunicate somehow, lol! So preferably people who speak either English, Polish, Hungarian or German. So have anyone of you attended the shows/activities listed above and can give your opinions on these? Der_Griffon Posted January 30, 2011 at 03:28 PM Posted January 30, 2011 at 03:28 PM Continuing the discussion from the other topic here. Yeah, my friends are German, so it would be perfect! Unfortunately we are arriving on the 14th in the evening and there's all those things planned on the 15th and the 16th, so I guess we won't be able to visit GC together. Anyway, if you have done that when we arrive, would you mind sharing the details of the trip you will have organized? Dionesque Posted January 30, 2011 at 04:42 PM Author Posted January 30, 2011 at 04:42 PM Sure, no problem! We can share our impressions with you if we go there. I agree, we won't plan any big trip on the 15th nor on the 16th because of the Fan Meeting and all the other things planned in association with ICDFM. What hotel are you staying in? Are you also in the Imperial Palace? If so, we may surely bump into each other somewhere there to chat. Do you think about attending any shows in the evening of the 14th already or you prefer to chill out after the long flight on that night? Der_Griffon Posted January 30, 2011 at 05:02 PM Posted January 30, 2011 at 05:02 PM Me and my boyfriend are in IP, just as you, and our other two friends are staying at Mirage, I believe. We're flying in from NYC on the 14th, but United changed our flight time to a very late hour, so we won't be able to have more then some drinks after we check in. But it's really nice that there are other Germans/German speaking people like you. My friends that are staying at Mirage were already getting scared they'd be left out of everything because their English is really rudimentary. So it's really nice that many of us know multiple languages, I think. Bellamy Posted January 30, 2011 at 05:38 PM Posted January 30, 2011 at 05:38 PM I just have one question. Trip to Hoover Dam and lunch at Lake Las Vegas has nothing to do with the Grand Canyon right? If not, I would like to go there on 13 or 14, 17 or 18 are ok too. But that will depends on how many would like to go and the cost. Dionesque Posted January 30, 2011 at 09:39 PM Author Posted January 30, 2011 at 09:39 PM (edited) That's right, Bellamy, Hoover Dam & Lake Las Vegas are something different, they are actually very close to Las Vegas as far as I know. So if you decide to go to GC on any day before premiere, we can get together. After the premiere, well, maybe you can join Der_Griffon? Der_Griffon, are your German friends who are staying at Mirage also members of this forum? I'm sure my husband will also enjoy company of some German-speaking people, even though his English is not bad either. So if you/they can always speak us up at any of the common meals/meetings or such. Acacia Posted January 30, 2011 at 09:55 PM Posted January 30, 2011 at 09:55 PM I'd be inteested in seeing The Lion King musical, and taking a trip to the Grand Canyon. I'm not sure how much money I will have though. I'm planning to do most of the fan get togethers and at the moment I'm not exactly sure how much extra spending money I will have. I like the idea of sharing the cost to rent a car. I've been thinking of rentining a car, but since I'm younger than 25 I would have to pay extra. So if someone else could rent it that would be great! Quote http://oi52.tinypic.com/2aaavxd.jpg ♥ Thank you, Céline for giving me the greatest birthday I could ask for! ♥

Dionesque Posted January 31, 2011 at 07:36 PM Author Posted January 31, 2011 at 07:36 PM celinefanonline, how much were your tickets for "The Lion King" and how good seats you've got? I would like to visit one of the musicals ("The Lion King" or "Phantom"), because for me personally it's more to enjoy than a Cirque du Soleil show (but it's only because my sight is limited). For my husband a Cirque du Soleil and/or a Blue Men Group show would be deffinitely something to enjoy! That's why I even thought of parting from him for an event so he could se one of those more visual shows which are not much fun for me and me, if I find someone to go with me, would go to a musical or an another concert on that night. Anyone's looking for company for a musical or a concert? Jennifer Posted February 1, 2011 at 12:26 AM Posted February 1, 2011 at 12:26 AM For anyone thinking about seeing a Cirque du Soleil show, I thought I'd give my opinion on them, since I've seen quite a few: I HAVE SEEN: LOVE (The Beatles) - This one is BY FAR my favorite! I've seen it twice now, and each time I was blown away. My husband and I took our parents there for our wedding, and everyone was in awe - my dad still talks about it!Mystere - I wasn't a big fan of this one. However, it IS your typical, traditional Cirque show - meaning there is a LOT of acrobatics, but not much of a "story" - it was too random for me (even though most Cirque shows usually are random).Viva Elvis - This one was OKAY, but it felt more like a Broadway show than a Cirque show... didn't like it too much.Zumanity - This one is very sexual... and very different. Note that there are a lot of topless women, etc. It was alright, but nothing fantastic for me.KA - I did like this one, but there was too much action for me. However, I know that some people LOVE that about this show... but sometimes too much action (like an action movie) can bore me. This one sort of did. I HAVE NOT SEEN: O - I always hear such wonderful reviews, but I haven't been able to bring myself to spend the money yet.Criss Angel - I haven't heard great things about this show. Cheerfuljane Posted February 1, 2011 at 01:07 AM Posted February 1, 2011 at 01:07 AM OK, I'll get some quotes for a small group trip to GC.It is a 2 or 3 hour drive depending on which part you go to. The Skywalk is the best imho. I flew over the GC once in a helicopter and once in a small plane. Now THAT is the best. Really expensive though. I've seen KA and O.Like Jennifer said, KA has more action. O is more kinda mystical. The water was just amazing.I think my husband would prefer KA, so we might go see that on the 17th. Quote

He's a bit of a "country boy" and I'm shocked that I got him to Las Vegas in the first place. Anyway, he went to see LOVE with low expectations, and he gave it a standing ovation at the end... he was BLOWN AWAY. So, he figured that the rest of the shows must be just as good. Since I was getting married at the Wynn, he stayed at the Wynn... so he saw LE RÊVE a few days later. I saw him after, and he said he didn't care for it very much. He was very impressed with it (a lot of acrobatics & dancing), but it didn't entertain him nearly as much as LOVE did. Very different shows... depends on what you're into!
