zuv Posted January 25, 2011 at 08:41 PM Posted January 25, 2011 at 08:41 PM (edited) just realized something. Do you guys agree that Can't Fight the Feelin' is the TC album version of Your Light from FIY album?? I LOOVE YL and last night i was listening intensively to CFTF in my car. Here are the similarites: Both rock, and edgier songs for both albums. In YL she's talking to a man In CFTF she's talking of a manShe "talks" more than she sings the lyrics in both songs. She takes the same "nasal" tone voice to sing. (i usually dont like nasal, but it fits perfectly in the both songs) and fianlly some lyrics: I'm hooked on a feeling, a natural highYou better believe it It's a special kind of feelingSomething to believe in Edit: ELDO NOVA composed both song!! (just relalized this after writing this new topic ) Edited January 25, 2011 at 08:45 PM by zuv Quote
Celine Fan 77 Posted January 25, 2011 at 09:01 PM Posted January 25, 2011 at 09:01 PM Actually, I never really though about the similarities that could exist between these two amazing songs, but now that you said it, there might be a connection between them. Or maybe it's just casuality, 'cause Celine has a lot of uptempo songs! Javito Posted January 25, 2011 at 09:38 PM Posted January 25, 2011 at 09:38 PM Didn't notice they were similar though Your Light is one of my favourite songs of FIY album. But now I have one more reason to love -even more- Aldo Nova . This guy really rocks!!!! Shame both of these songs never got much attention Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
RomualdlovesCeline Posted January 25, 2011 at 09:54 PM Posted January 25, 2011 at 09:54 PM (edited) I always thought Your Light was a wake-up call for the listenner of the whole album; Celine begins it with "HEY!!!!" in case you slept through the love songs of the whole CD. I think that Celine should have recorded TONS of songs in the 1995-96 era; she would have made albums that are full of those today; I would have bought them ALL!!! The difference between the 2 songs is that YL was actually in an album that goes with the love song; however CFTF is in an album [TC] that talks about everything and nothing at the same time. Both songs taken seperately are pretty good even though I like YL way more, because the "LOVE LOVE LOVE and John Lennon said..." part in CFTF is unnecessary and I tend to like her voice more in the 90s on a rock song than in 00s on a rock song. Both songs taken seperately are pretty good even though I like YL way more, because the "LOVE LOVE LOVE and John Lennon said..." part in CFTF is unnecessary and I tend to like her voice more in the 90s on a rock song than in 00s on a rock song. Yeah, "All We Need Is Love" reference! But its not the first reference she makes to Lennon, she already recorded Beautiful Boy by then Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Dionesque Posted January 25, 2011 at 10:27 PM Posted January 25, 2011 at 10:27 PM I get your point zuv, a lot of true in that but, as someone already said, it surely has a lot to do with the fact that both songs were written by Aldo Nova. I noticed such kind of things at many other songwritters, alsoly such who write songs for many different artists. Sometimes they use similair patterns, probably when they think the first song written on such pattern was good. Or simply because they like this pattern. It's kinda habit - like all the other habits, it can be remarkable for particular person and differ from person to person. We have our particular ways of handwriting, each one of us has some sentences/frases that we use more often then all the other ones etc. Same goes for songs. It's hard to not repeat something if you're writing hundreds, thousands of songs, right? But for me "Your Light" is absolutely one of the best Celine songs, not only on "FIY" album but ever! As for "CFTF", I like it but it's long way behind "Your Light". My fave rock song from "TC" album it's deffinitely "Fade Away"! And yeah, reference to Lennon in CFTF, reference to Eurythmics in TC... zuv Posted January 25, 2011 at 11:49 PM Author Posted January 25, 2011 at 11:49 PM 1st of all sorry for the many mistakes i made in the fisrt post. Didn't notice they were similar though Your Light is one of my favourite songs of FIY album. But now I have one more reason to love -even more- Aldo Nova . This guy really rocks!!!! Shame both of these songs never got much attention I know! this guy is great! Your Light is also one of my favorite of the album. Now i feel like i rediscovered the song ICFTF and i love it more now. I always thought Your Light was a wake-up call for the listenner of the whole album; Celine begins it with "HEY!!!!" in case you slept through the love songs of the whole CD. I think that Celine should have recorded TONS of songs in the 1995-96 era; she would have made albums that are full of those today; I would have bought them ALL!!!LOL thats so true. never thought about it before. She's like : "HEYYYY!! I can rock too you know"But yeah its her best album and i would buy them all too. I wonder why she took ICFTF off the show. Your Light should have been performed Live too. REAL shame!! Quote

duri Posted January 26, 2011 at 07:35 AM Posted January 26, 2011 at 07:35 AM I agree, while both are composed by Aldo Nova, it can be reason they are similiar. But I prefer Your light, I like it more than CFTF. Quote http://www.supermusic.sk/obrazky/80543_Celine%209.jpg
Javito Posted January 26, 2011 at 09:38 AM Posted January 26, 2011 at 09:38 AM Just to revive the moment, here's the live version of "Can't Fight The Feelin'": [ Hidden part. View original post. ] Enjoy! Miles better than Shadow of Love or Fade Away live Though the backing vocals suck Céline's team for backing vocals (Elise, Barney and don't know the name of the other girl) look sometimes more like a gospel choir than the suitable one for each song Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
celine-rc Posted January 26, 2011 at 12:50 PM Posted January 26, 2011 at 12:50 PM Thanks! Quote http://images.lpcdn.ca/435x290/201103/17/305341.jpg Merci Céline pour ces deux soirées inoubliables que j'ai passées à tes côtés. Je ne les oublierais jamais. J't'adore Céline. Merci. <3
Timster Posted January 26, 2011 at 01:47 PM Posted January 26, 2011 at 01:47 PM slightly off topic but i was so mad they cut cant fight the feelin out of the tour, it was better vocally than Fade away or Shadow of love (they were terrible live) Well I didn't like the live arrangement for CFTF that much, as during the verses the backing singers were way too loud (and high). IMO Celine should have sung that by herself, without any other vocals. The rest of the song was ok though. I agree that SOL was terrible live, but the reason FA sounded different becuase it was lowered by 2 semitones (due to the high note - even then it was an F5). I think almost every song sounds better in the original key. Quote

C_Airin_D Posted January 26, 2011 at 06:51 PM Posted January 26, 2011 at 06:51 PM I like them both..maybe CFTF more, and i agree that replacing CFTF with Shadow of love or Fade away was a mistake. CFTF is more powerful song! Quote Want! Believe! Be patient! The only way for your dreams to come true!
Sofie Posted January 26, 2011 at 07:03 PM Posted January 26, 2011 at 07:03 PM I don't think they're that similar. Yes, they are both written by Aldo Nova and have a rockiness about them but other than that, I don't see it. Quote
pollsy Posted January 26, 2011 at 07:07 PM Posted January 26, 2011 at 07:07 PM Hah, never noticed that Nice find .. I like YL more but yes with CFTF are so similar! And to me this is really because both are written by Aldo Nova. Quote http://prikachi.com/images/153/5347153U.jpg
Celine Fan 77 Posted January 26, 2011 at 10:30 PM Posted January 26, 2011 at 10:30 PM There's an eleven-year-difference between both songs; eventough both of them were written by Aldo Nova, they can't be similar just because of that. I mean, a lot of things can happen in 11 years, Aldo Nova wouldn't write a song with the same message for a singer as he did 11 years before. I mean, a lot of things can happen in 11 years, Aldo Nova wouldn't write a song with the same message for a singer as he did 11 years before. I can assure you that it is possible, I know a few other examples when something like that happened and there was even a wider time gap between the songs, even up to 20 years! I'm talking about songs written by same songwritter and containing similair melody and/or lyrics patterns. So yes, that's absolutely an option here.
