To me there's a big difference between the versions you've merged, and it would be interesting to see for example how high in the list If That's What It Takes got if it weren't attached to Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore.

What I don't grasp fully is if I should name all tracks I loved the most last year, or the songs I played the most last year. For example, to me Call The Man and Think Twice are among the tracks which were my absolute favorite Céline tracks last year, but they weren't the most played Céline songs, since I've almost overplayed them in the past. On the contrary I played Taking Chances, There Comes A Time and Map To My Heart a lot last year but those aren't necessary the Céline tracks I love the most, I just like them a lot and I haven't overplayed them yet. Get the difference?

I merged some different versions of songs into one, because people never vote for the same song. So when they vote for My Love (live), they won't vote for My Love (studio) as well. It wouldn't be fair on the song if it would lose out points for this. Cause if someone votes for My Love (studio) to be his #1 song, it's not likely the live version is not even in his Top 25 at all. But people just don't want to list the same song twice, which is understandable. Hope I explained this well.

 

As for your other question: last year people voted for the songs they LOVED most. Those are not necessarily the songs you played the most. On the other hand: some people find it easier to make a list with 'most played' in mind, but there are also people without iTunes and can't possibly say which songs they played the most. So in the end it comes down to FAVORITES for most people.

I don't understand how "Think Twice" and "On S'est Aimé À Cause" would end up so low in the charts, lol...

Not speaking/understanding of French may be the factor for some votes but for me, even though my French is rather poor, it doesn't discriminate the French songs (or those in languages different than English or French, for example Japanese). I love songs in foreign languages, even if I don't understand the language at all, like Japanese for example.

 

Anyways, I would like to volenteer for preparing Top 200 of 2010 but I'd like to ask how you solved it organisatorily??

I would prefer people to send me their votes per PM, I guess.

And personally I wouldn't marge different language versions (like "Fly" and "Vole") into one but I probably would marge studio and live versions or one song in the same language.

 

And it would be good setting a deadline until where the votes have to be applied. Maybe the end of January?

 

I like preparing charts, it's fun to do even if it's indeed some work as well.
