luisnicole Posted December 30, 2010 at 11:34 AM Posted December 30, 2010 at 11:34 AM Who cares what a stupid magazine or web site said, ist not the general opinion, is only two people is just like when name the sexy men or women of the year, who decided that one what 20 people, is all fake this. Its a waste of time read this things. Quote
Sofie Posted December 30, 2010 at 11:37 AM Posted December 30, 2010 at 11:37 AM That is so unfair. They should know the story before, coz if you do it really is the sweetest name. Even without the story, it's cute. But hey, just don't care about it. Céline and René are happy with the name and that's all that counts, who care what two people working on a magazine/website thinks? Quote

jessx Posted December 30, 2010 at 12:48 PM Posted December 30, 2010 at 12:48 PM (edited) I don't like the way they do this to children! I know he's too young to understand; but still, he's a baby; he's not a public figure. And any name that has a special meaning is a beautiful name. Nobody liked one of the kids in my family's name, but the meaning was beautiful, so it didn't matter Edited December 30, 2010 at 12:54 PM by jessx Quote
erikppp Posted December 30, 2010 at 02:18 PM Posted December 30, 2010 at 02:18 PM On the bright side they are talking about Celine .... and I have to admit it is not an obvious choice name for a new born in 2010.... Quote
Belle Céline Posted December 30, 2010 at 03:07 PM Posted December 30, 2010 at 03:07 PM I have to agree with DJ and Timster I don't like the name either, I prefer Eddy but neither of them are names I would chose regardless of the meaning behind them. They just aren't names I like Quote “There’s nothing I love more than the romance of a night in the theater.”http://i39.tinypic.com/ws0due.png
Claudette Posted December 30, 2010 at 03:15 PM Posted December 30, 2010 at 03:15 PM (edited) I can't believe people are still going on about the names. I don't see what this have to do with anybody. It is Celine's baby, she is the one that brought him into this world, so shouldn't she be the one to name him? People don't realize how cool it actually is. He is named after one of the biggest legends in the world. Yesterday they were talking about it again on the radio saying how awesome it is that she named her child after an SA icon. I get the impression that some people here don't even know the story about Nelson Mandela. Don't worry Claudette, I'm sure most people here do know about Mandela's story, and appreciate him as one of the greastest human beings ever. But outside of SA the name is just not very popular. It's just not a name I like is all. Not everyone likes the same name. I get the impression that some people here don't even know the story about Nelson Mandela. I agree. I think some people just don't realize how important what he did was (I did a project on hinm for History class last year). It's really a nice name because of the intention. To be honest, I don't care for the name Nelson just like that but once you know the story, it's just so perfect. It's true too, it's Céline's child, not theirs, so it should be her choice how she calls them. It's too bad some people are ignorant. Belle Céline Posted December 30, 2010 at 07:18 PM Posted December 30, 2010 at 07:18 PM I never said I didn't know why he was named after Mandela, I just don't like the name. I'm not ignorant about who he is. I know exactly who he is, I just don't like the name Nelson. It has nothing to do with Celine naming her son Nelson or to do with who Nelson Mandela is or why Celine named him that. It's a name I've never really liked that well. I'm not against her naming him Nelson because of Mandela, he is her son she can name him she she wants, but just because his named after Nelson Mandela doesn't mean everyone is going to like the name. The reason why he is named that yes most people would probably like that. It's just Nelson isn't everyone's cup of tea for a name for their child. ladylindsey Posted December 30, 2010 at 07:37 PM Posted December 30, 2010 at 07:37 PM I think Gideon is cute! I wouldn't put much stock in this- seems like it was thrown together and not much thought was really put into it, just something some ppl did for kicks. He will have a unique name as it's not "popular" now and the fact that he was named after such a great man, well he will stand out and be ahead of the game for sure. Quote
Jacqui Posted December 31, 2010 at 06:35 AM Posted December 31, 2010 at 06:35 AM I like the name Nelson- even if I think it's a little weird that she named her son after Nelson Mandela. But IMO, half the names on the "best" list are awful.. Quote
