Nelson Angelil named "10th Worst Celebrity Baby Name of 2010"

I don't like the way they do this to children! I know he's too young to understand; but still, he's a baby; he's not a public figure. And any name that has a special meaning is a beautiful name. It is Celine's baby, she is the one that brought him into this world, so shouldn't she be the one to name him? People don't realize how cool it actually is. He is named after one of the biggest legends in the world. Yesterday they were talking about it again on the radio saying how awesome it is that she named her child after an SA icon. Don't worry Claudette, I'm sure most people here do know about Mandela's story, and appreciate him as one of the greastest human beings ever. But outside of SA the name is just not very popular.

I know who he is and I know his story and its great that Celine named Nelson after him, she can name her kids whatever she wants. I just happen to not like the name Nelson is all and wouldn't name my son Nelson is all I'm saying but it's her choice, she likes the name and that's great It has nothing to do with being cool or having to like it because of who he is named after. It's just not a name I like is all. Not everyone likes the same name.

I agree. I think some people just don't realize how important what he did was (I did a project on hinm for History class last year). It's really a nice name because of the intention. To be honest, I don't care for the name Nelson just like that but once you know the story, it's just so perfect. It's true too, it's Céline's child, not theirs, so it should be her choice how she calls them. It's too bad some people are ignorant.

I never said I didn't know why he was named after Mandela, I just don't like the name. I'm not ignorant about who he is. I know exactly who he is, I just don't like the name Nelson. It has nothing to do with Celine naming her son Nelson or to do with who Nelson Mandela is or why Celine named him that. It's a name I've never really liked that well. I'm not against her naming him Nelson because of Mandela, he is her son she can name him she she wants, but just because his named after Nelson Mandela doesn't mean everyone is going to like the name. The reason why he is named that yes most people would probably like that. It's just Nelson isn't everyone's cup of tea for a name for their child.

I love the originality of naming a new born "Egypt", and no sarcasm here. It seems kind of paradisiacal to me. And they put it as the second worth choice.

Also, Vida is an enchanting name ("Life")

My mothers name is Helga Margaret' so i don't think it is stupid Margaret means the lady of the ocean.

And Nelson isn't a bad name at all just not a choice that i would name my baby.

I'd rather see Mariah Carey name her children "After her icons Michael Jackson and Nat King Cole...
