I know there are topics for favorite album but I don't recall one for ranking them all from favorite to least fav.

 

 

So, in terms of production, lyrics, vocals, melodies, etc.... not in terms of success.

 

Feel free to include French albums.

 

1. Falling Into You - all songs of great quality, not a single filler, her best vocals

2. These Are Special Times - this is a Christmas album every family should own, timeless classics, new songs, perfection all around

3. Let's Talk About Love - some of my favorite songs, great productions with some legends, but a couple duds bring it down

4. The Colour Of My Love - it's a shame she ignores all but 1 1/2 songs from this. Some of her most powerful vocals. More head notes here than on most albums and it shows a side musically to her that most albums don't

5. All The Way - it's a shame we only got 7-8 songs from this. If there were 12 songs of the quality these 7 or so had than this would be a little bit higher

6. Taking Chances - I only hate two songs on this album. I don't really LOVE any of them, but I like most of them. I actually have more songs from this album on my iPod than the others. About 1-2 songs get an A, and the rest B's with the last two D's....it's normally more spread out.

7. Celine Dion - this album has a lot of true gems to it that I adore, but the ones that aren't gems are generally duds to me.

8. A New Day Has Come - There is only one song I love. A couple I like. A lot that I tolerate and slightly like but usually skip over, and a few I don't like. Everything here is in between a ballad and a pop/rock song which pretty much means more mixed vocals that sound like a LCMM performance.

9. Unison - WDMHBN is a lot like the rest of her english career, but the other songs kind of show that side of her I mentioned with parts of TCOML. A more up-tempo dance kind of side

10. One Heart - A bit like ANDHC. But there is hardly anything at all of quality. I like a lot of the songs - they're catchy, but not much to them.

11. Miracle - I'm considering putting this above OH. While it's a complete bore, it's of quality.

Sorry, I can't mix and compare between english and french albums, they are totally different for me so I will do 2 different ranks

 

English discography:

 

1. A New Day Has Come - this album represents exactly the way I would have liked Céline to evolve in her career: the perfect combination between ballads and uptempo songs, but with a slight preference for uptempo songs. She returned to the showbusiness as a young and powerful singer who pleased many different audiences, but unfortunately this lasted for few time

 

2. Unison - so an underratted album, but to me, its a jewel in her english discography. Again, I love it because it offers a different image of the way worn out image that people has of Céline as a "ballad singer" only.

 

3. All The Way (the 7 new songs of course ) - the amazing production just talks of itself. And only TTWII and Then You Look At Me are worth to buy this CD.

 

4. These Are Special Times - the album is perfect from beggining to end, from the selection of songs to the polished production.

 

5. Taking Chances - I like almost the entire album except for 3 or 4 songs (out of the 19 known, its a good average!)

 

6. Celine Dion - again, its a pity that Céline only has given credit to just 2 songs in this album . It includes 2 outstanding tracks incomparable to any other songs she has done yet: Did You Give Enough Love (unique because of its soft and low key vocals) and Halfway To heaven. She still has to beat those (if she ever does)

 

7. One Heart - I do like this album. It was rushed, yes, but because I believe its full of leftovers from ANDHC, I really enjoy it (except LIAW and the repeated songs). And I still think that Je T'aime Encore in english is better than the french version!

 

8. The Colour Of My Love - again, apart from the beautiful ballads, she has some great uptempo songs here, and another underrated song: Refuse To Dance

 

9. Let's Talk About Love - should have been called "the duets album" or "the collaborations album", "Céline and friends" or something like that. I have some favourites here (THLAL, Miles To Go, Just A Little Bit Of Love) but I feel the "duets" and the other songs doesn't get on well very good.

 

10. Falling Into You - I'm sorry but this is not my favourite Celine album at all. It includes great songs, yes, but thanks to Céline, I ended up to hating BYLM (the most cheesy and overrated ballad she has, both things at the same time ). And I never liked the idea of including adapted songs from the successful D'eux in here, because in addition, they are very bad versions (I Don't Know, Fly and If That's What It Takes).

 

11. Miracle - you know why this album deserves the last position!

 

 

French discography:

 

1. À L'Olympia - I don't know if live albums count or only studio albums, but I think this CD deserves the top of the rank because the performances even surpass and beat he studio ones (which isn't hard for Céline either). If someone asked me to suggest a french Céline album to introduce him to her in this language, Ii would tell him about this CD without hesitation. The sound of this hall and Céline's crystalline vocals are just flawless. Enough.

 

2. S'il Suffisait D'aimer - Again, I think this album is underrated, compared with D'eux. I believe its a masterpiece, there's any filler in this album (except for Je Chanterai maybe). Je Croist Toi in the opening is simply amazing, and again, a raritie in her discography. It's the french simile of Did You Give Enough Love case for example

 

3. Dion Chante Plamondon - I doubted wether to put this in 2 or 3 place. This is another masterpiece in hands of Plamondon. There's any filler in this precious album. The opening with Des Mots Qui Sonnent, a display of vocal energy (and "savoir faire" in lyrics for Luc) is gorgeous, just the same as the ending with L'amour Existe Encore.

 

4. 1 Fille & 4 Types - The folk album we could say! It's another raritie in her french repertoire, because of the nice sound. I almost adore every song, except for TLDH (so repetitive and disappointing, if you compare with the rest of the songs).

 

5. Incognito - a fresh and different album, that don't need many listenings to feel attracted by it. The lyrics are interesting and melodies are catchy, something that I missed in D'elles.

 

6. D'eux - it has very catchy songs, but not comparable to SSDA IMO (or in other words, not only for having the inmense PQTME makes it "the best french album", or at least not better than SDDA or DCP)

 

7. D'elles - Didn't like the concept of the album. It's not an album for everyone, like Miracle. And with this I hope that Céline puts and end to the "babies and mothers and womens" concept album idea (or at least make one for males for once! )

From 'Incognito' to 'D'elles', her every single French album is wonderful. From the English ones, I'd say 'Celine Dion' , 'The Color Of My Love', 'Falling Into You' and 'A New Day Has Come' are the best. Worst... 'One Heart' & 'Miracle' (sorry, it might be dedicated to her child but I don't think it's good at all, I've listened to it only a few times).

I agree with Javito, they simply cannot compare.

 

 

ENGLISH ALBUMS

 

1. Celine Dion - I swear this album has some of her best vocals and you can feel the most emotion coming from her in this english-language recording.

 

2. Taking Chances - A return to the above. Soaring vocals, low vocals, and emotion.

 

3. A New Day Has Come - This might be because it was during my "coming of age" period! LOL But there are some great songs and the excitement of having Celine back with such great songs was a plus.

 

4. Unison - The girl had something to prove and she certainly did on this one. Great productions and great songs.

 

5. One Heart - A very nice pop album with a few beautiful ballads

 

6. The Colour of My Love - Some true gems on this one and some really dull songs like "Lovin' Proof."

 

7. Falling Into You - The 2nd most overrated album of her career. Sure there are some fantastic songs, but this record sounds so dated in 2010. However, I thought it was the bee's knees in 1996

 

8. These Are Special Times A pop, holiday record. That's it.

 

9. Let's Talk About Love The MOST over-rated album of her career. "The Reason" is a gem, the others----outdated and blah.

 

10. All The Way...A Decade of Song What a lazy album. Hits mixed with mediocre new songs.

 

11. Miracle HA!!!!!!!!!! This was the only one I was embarassed to buy at the cash register.

 

 

FRENCH ALBUMS:

Because most fans have no idea how good these albums are compared to the above rubbish, I'm not going to waste my time giving my full reasons because people won't read them. It's a bloody shame.

 

1. D'elles - what a return to francophone music! Wow!

 

2. Incognito - The album that defined it all! All songs were singles, for God's sake!

 

3. Dion chante Plamondon / Des mots qui sonnent - Powerful songs for the most powerful voice in the business

 

4. C'est pour toi - a woman coming of age. Simple songs, not all belted. The first songs that were clearly about René.

 

5. Les chemins de ma maison - "Toi sur la montagne" = best song of her career.

 

6. Mélanie - A true gem!

 

7. D'eux - Overrated but contains some great songs.

 

8. 1 fille & 4 types - this was a real treat when it was released, nice to hear different genres from Céline.

 

9. Du soleil au cœur / Les oiseaux du bonheur - I guess this is where the ATW concept comes from. The new songs are worth it.

 

10. S'il suffaisait d'aimer - "Papillon" = heaven

 

11. Tellement j'ai d'amour... - Some very fun songs, some very serious songs.

 

12. La voix du bon Dieu - "L'amour viendra" makes the album. Some songs very cheesy, but a perfect début.

 

13. Chante Noël - Christmas albums in French aren't my cup of tea, and don't seem to be for other francophones.

 

14. Chants et contes de Noël - See above.

 

LIVE ALBUMS:

A new day has come (love the range from power ballads to more up-tempo, and the personal specially-written lyrics)

These are special times (a Classic!)

 

Falling into you and The colour of my love (vocal perfection from back when she would be silent for days to save her voice, God bless her)

All the way (great summary of her career so far and the new songs)

Let's talk about love (the mix of styles is almost overwhelming, but I forgive them :-)

 

D'Elles (so much emotion in every song, Celine DOES have another voice when she sings in French)

The Collector's series (always loved ABM in Spanish)

D'eux (les derniers sont les premiers... breath taking)

Miracle (so many forgotten jewels on this one)

Unison (proving that Celine was a diamond in the rough)
