Actually, there isn't a cure... At least yet...

 

Few people on this planet are resistant against the HIV virus. I think it's about 1% or even less. This percentage of people can't get HIV, they are immune to the decease. Just like some people are resistant against other deceases... It's a strange twist of nature that can't be explaned (yet).

 

Now what happend was that one person with HIV had leukemia developed, leukemia can sometimes be cured by transplanting stem cells, for this transplantation the donor has to be a 100% match with the receiver and while having several matches the doctor in question noticed that one of the donors whas also HIV resistant and with the saying "it can't hurt trying" the doctor chose the donor who was HIV resistant... The result is that the receiver cured of his cancer and that the HIV virus was also gone...

 

This is unspeakable a big breakthrough in the development of an actual cure against HIV although it isn't a cure yet... HIV isn't today as lethal as it used to be thanks to advanced medications patients have a quite normal live expectancy today, at least in western countries with all the advanced medications available, unfortunately there are still lot's a places on this world that doensn't have those medications and thus HIV can be very lethal in a quite short span of time.

 

It will be interesting to see if the HIV virus just disappeared in the patient or that the patient himself became HIV resistant due the stem cell transplant. If the patient became HIV immune this means a huge breakthrough... If he just cured of it, then it is a nice breakthrough also but less significant...

 

There aren't much details available about this particular case and honestly I don't expect them within years... Apparently it took 3 years after the stem cell transplant before doctors were sure that the patient was HIV free... It will certainly take another couple of years to get the full details of it and eventually a cure, if possible, shouldn't be expected within the next 2 decades...

 

And even if eventually a cure can be found there is no guarantee that the HIV virus hasn't mutated by then... Viruses mutate all the time...

 

 

There are loads of deceases that need a cure... Not only HIV or cancer but many, many others even the regular flu which mutates all the time and becomes more and more resistant to the current medications...

 

 

But it's certainly very good news... It can certainly be a big step in the research.

I think the cure for HIV and CANCER has been created already, but it's not a good deal for pharmaceutical companies and that's the reason why this medications are not on sale for everybody... Let's hope someone has mercy of all the people with this horrible diseases and make possible, once and for all, free access to all the medication needed to finally be free from them...
