adrien83 Posted November 20, 2010 at 10:26 AM Posted November 20, 2010 at 10:26 AM Philippe Dunnigan will be the solo violin in the orchestra that will accompany Celine Dion for her new show in Las Vegas from March 15, 2011. http://philippedunnigan.com/node/211 First contact in Las Vegas On October 12th and 13th, the first round of string auditions was held in Las Vegas for Celine Dion's upcoming production. It was an opportunity for Philippe Dunnigan to discover the fabulous city of Las Vegas and the "Colosseum" concert venue at Ceasars Palace. He also met with his old friend Claude "Mego" Lemay and legendary Producer Ken Ehrlich. Quote

adrien83 Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:20 AM Author Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:20 AM End of the strings auditions After auditions in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, Celine Dion's string orchestra is now a reality. The audition committee of Claude "Mego" Lemay, Ken Erhlich, Yves Aucoin, Denis Savage and Philippe Dunnigan is now confident that it will provide the cherished Pop Diva with a first class orchestra. J-Man Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:28 AM Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:28 AM Thanks for these updates Adrien, good work. I'm okay with Sebatien being gone I think. He was a good violinist, but I never connected with him that much. And, yes, hopefully TLYM is going to get a respite for this show now. But the fact that they need a solo violinist, when they have the orchestra as well, leads me to wonder if the dreaded medley is still in there somewhere? Claudette Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:33 AM Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:33 AM I liked Sebastien. He was kind of cute... Thanks for the information! If they made this big deal about the violinist, I am prepared to make a bet that that bloody song will be in the set list again... Sofie Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:08 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:08 PM (edited) Thanks for the news. Doesn't anyone like TLYM anymore? I agree that we've heard the medley "a few" times but to me they're still great songs... Edited November 20, 2010 at 02:09 PM by Sofie Quote
Davey84 Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:11 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:11 PM yeah great songs, but like 80% of the rest of the setlist... a song to put to rest! Claudette Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:41 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:41 PM Please don't shoot me, but I won't mind the medley if she sings it live and they change the arrangement or something. I really really hope they are not planning to include those playback versions again... Quote http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af51/ClaudetteRobinson/esme.jpg
J-Man Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:56 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:56 PM Sorry, too late! 100% live, accapella or whilst juggling fruit, I don't care, I want this medley out! Individually I love the songs, but it's time to give something else in her repetoire a chance to shine. By the way love the last track on the music section of Phillipe's website. But that first one? Teodora Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:27 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:27 PM I'm starting to get so excited about Vegas again! I love, love, love orchestras, it will sound so amazing with Celine's voice Quote
celine-rc Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:36 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 11:36 PM Thanks for the info. I'm starting to get really exited to see what the new show is going to be like! angelil78 Posted November 21, 2010 at 01:54 AM Posted November 21, 2010 at 01:54 AM I wouldn't mind her singing TLYM, one of my fave song Even though she has performed that song a lot of times, at least at all the shows I've seen her in Quote
celinefanonline Posted November 21, 2010 at 02:27 AM Posted November 21, 2010 at 02:27 AM will it doesn't really matter to me though loland btw this is not a topic for TLYM lol hahahha i so can't wait to see the whole orchestra Quote Courage don't you dare fail me now!
I Love You Posted November 21, 2010 at 02:44 AM Posted November 21, 2010 at 02:44 AM Thanks, for the news. I thought Jean Sebastien, was pretty hot. This is getting me excited, for the new show to come. Quote
SuperLove4Celine Posted November 21, 2010 at 03:25 AM Posted November 21, 2010 at 03:25 AM Thanks for the info.! I wouldn't mind "To Love You More" being part of the set list either, so long as it's performed in its entirety LIVE. I feel the same about "Because You Loved Me" and "It's All Coming Back To Me Now." I'm fine with them being part of a set list, but only if they are performed in their entirety. There are many other songs Celine has that would best be suited for medleys. Quote

RLAAMJR. Posted November 21, 2010 at 12:34 PM Posted November 21, 2010 at 12:34 PM He is so very, very fortunate! I hope he's not just a great violinist, but really a fan of Celine. Quote
Céline74 Posted November 21, 2010 at 12:36 PM Posted November 21, 2010 at 12:36 PM I agree about TLYM being a bit too much! We need new stuff. And J-man i listened to that last track you mentioned on Phillippe's website, very very nice! Quote http://i837.photobucket.com/albums/zz298/virgo17th/Sam%20and%20Me/Senzatitolo-1-1.jpg
Sofie Posted November 21, 2010 at 05:04 PM Posted November 21, 2010 at 05:04 PM I'm happy at least some people still like TLYM. I'd like to have it as a part of this show as well. Quote
Peppercorn1991 Posted November 21, 2010 at 07:47 PM Posted November 21, 2010 at 07:47 PM To me, it wouldnt feel right without these songs. J man, To love you more is a great song, and we all know every song will sound different now there is this celine against musicians, so much more sounds, will be great, and great for a live album! kev Quote
CSCfan Posted November 21, 2010 at 11:09 PM Posted November 21, 2010 at 11:09 PM Tnx for the info But where is it mentioned he's the "solo violinist"? He's going to be the leader of the string orchestra. But Jean-Seb is still in the band and will still play the violin.....don't worry Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY
Shaun Posted November 22, 2010 at 12:29 AM Posted November 22, 2010 at 12:29 AM Remember also that a "solo violinist" is used in the prelude to "My Heart Will Go On", the James Horner instrumental piece "Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave" which may also be featured in the show. I'd love to see a full orchestra playing this piece before taking us into "My Heart Will Go On." Anyone getting more and more excited for the show? I'm just imagining some "orchestral versions" of the classics and it really does make you want to hear those songs in a new way.
