David Foster's memoir and Celine

David Foster, 15-time Grammy winner and a major Celine friend and mentor, released a book last year detailing his life and career. He basically made Celine's first album and did many other songs for her later on...he's worked with every major musician and called Celine the greatest singer in the world. The book is called Hit Man, anyone read it and catch what he said (I assume he has a chapter or so dedicated to her) about Celine?

I have read the book and have to say it's a great read. (But that's a totally biased opinion, seeing as I'm a Foster fan aside from his work with Celine.) There isn't a chapter or anything dedicated to her per se, but he definitely does mention her a lot. He talks about going to see her in Montreal before she started her English career, about working with her through the years, and does generally compare her with a lot of other artists he has worked with; sometimes he mentions specific people or simply says "artists like Celine..." I would cite specific examples, but sadly I don't have the book with me right now. (I recently moved and most of my things are at another location.)

 

But yes, David speaks very highly of Celine throughout the entire memoir. I highly recommend it!

When you watch David on TV interviews and concerts, more often than not she would mention Celine. I adore the kind of relationship they have

Yes, David does mention her first when discussing artists he's worked with. It's very evident in the book how much he really does value Celine--both on a professional and personal level.

How come Celine hasn't worked with David Foster for so long? He produced some of her greatest songs (like my favorite "Because You Loved Me"). I also wonder what happened to Diane Warren. She's written so many beautiful songs for Celine. They should bring back that awesome team: Celine, Diane and David.

David has been focused on young talent, like Charice and Renee Olstead, for the past few years. I don't think he would say no to a project with Celine if it was the right time and the right project. I agree that David, Diane and Celine do need to work together again... sooner rather than later!

Back in the 90's, the two major pop forces were Mariah Carey & Celine Dion - the two top selling artists of the decade, having sold about 125m copies of their 90's albums apiece. And just like Mariah had Walter Afanasieff who would always bring out the best in her (and the man that Mariah's fans most want her to work with), Celine had David Foster, who would do much the same.

 

Celine does need to get back in the studio with David - after all, he brought out the big All By Myself note, he can bring out something more from her, that other producers just can't.

They worked together on the Miracle album back in 2004.

Always? Have you listened to the ''Miracle'' album? Her elocution is awful on this album. Not to mention that most of the songs were poorly produced.

That is simply a matter of opinion. I'm not going to get into it again, because I've had the "Miracle" discussion with people here before. I don't particularly like "Miracle," but I have to remember it's a lullaby album for very young children and their parents. Not everyone is going to like what you do all the time.
