Céline's version of It's A Man's Man's Man's World

I like Celine's version of Its A Mans World, but to me when it's on the DVD it sounds way different I guess because of all the editing & personally I don't think the Boston performance of that song was the best. But other than that i like her version.

Well, actually right after The Show Must Go On, It's a man's world it's my fav performance from the DVD

 

"The Show Must Go On" is another song where Celine's pronunciation is pretty horrific.

Agreed. When I had my dad watch that performance he was like 'is she forgetting the words?'. Pronunciation was very off. I never really got why she did a Queen tribute anyway. I love Queen and everything, but it didn't really fit with the rest of the show in my opinion.

I am a fan of this song. I am a fan of this performance. I am a fan of these white clothes. I am a fan of these boots. I am a fan of sexy Celine singing this song....

 

= Julian was most excited to see 2 or 3 versions of Mans World on DVD! The song he adores most at the concert. One from New York i thought (TTEOTW) one from Boston and one from Montreal which i didn't liked that much because it was one of the weakest performances.

 

Finally i got it and discovered that we got only 1 performance of the song. Because Boston and Montreal Concert was the same and TTEOTW too... i was very disappointed. It was orgasmic to listen to these screamed high notes, the passioned ones during the second refrain... I downloaded almost every Mans World performance from youtube. The best versions are:

 

Mans World Live in Stockholm, Frankfurt (i can't believe i was there, it looks like she is flipping out, look how she pulls her head back at the end of these power notes) and maybe London/Paris/Mexico. I get ghosebumbs! (Please search the Man's World Frankfurt youtubevideo, it's recorded by me)

 

During the american leg of the tour the song went weaker and weaker. BUT the part after the 1st refrain was better, she did it with much more soul. But the energetic notes dissapeared.

 

Resumée: Montreal performance of the song is okay, i still like it (even i dont like the editing and cut of the video during the song). She is sexy on it and the "flair" of the song is still there. But they should have choosed the Boston recording, it was much better.

I don't agree with those who say that celine is not capable of singing soul,on the contrary she's doing great even if that i didn't like her performance,i was not easy to understand what she was saying!

Yeah her pronunciation was questionable, but I LOVE what she did with it musically and vocally---the whole instrumentation provided a great sound. Of course, the one from Boston was underwhelming, as her European performances were SO awesome. More low notes would be great, but she got a tin of mileage out of the Wong overall on the tour---even if she did copy Xtina. Celine surpassed her though

I loved when she sung this song! Agree with previous post, it's soul and it's great! French is her native languauge, that's the way it is. The notes are right on and I don't think the pronunciation was that bad. Love this song, performance and all!

She can't seem to make too many good mid-/uptempo songs in French. And she can indeed do soul... this (Monston performance) is just not the proof f that.

Depends on your definition of 'soul' i suppose. When i think of soul, aretha and tina come to mind...celine OWNED aretha in natural woman performance from divas live and celine's rdmh version is 29382038 times better than original. So I think celine can do everything from rock (fade away) to even reggae (Treat her like a lady lol). She even did a country sounding song on 1 fille CD if i recall.

sorry i was thinking about the part in the Soul Medly when she comes in and starts singing "baby baby baby" clearly i can't read just the babies sounded like Brittany. too many babies she usuallly doesn't sound like that, it must just be the way she sounded when they taped in it Bosten

her soul voice is obivously better when shes in duet with someone like at Divas, i love when she sings with others because she blows them away and steps up her game even higher than she thinks shes capable.

You should definitely order the Divas live DVD that has the natural woman performance. That dvd is so fun to show other people because it really shows off Celine's amazing vocals. And when she TOTALLY owned Aretha..well, that has to be my all time fav Celine moment
