Maybe you had read it on news already, an Embraer ERJ-190 crashed in China. 42 died, 54 survived. The plane crash put an end to a record 2,102 days of safe air travel in China -- 69 months without an accident -- according to CAAC statistics.

It was the first crash with fatalities where an ERJ is involved

The first "rumours" are that the crash seems to be a "CFIT" crash... (Controlled Flight Into Terrain). CFIT means that the plane is (was) airworthy and had no technical issues but where the planes crashes into terrain (water, land).

 

Apparently the airport (Yichun Lindu ICAO: ZYLD) had no ILS system installed, only a non precission approach (with limited visibility > 2.800 meters) was possible.

Henan Airlines issued a while back a recommondation that starting from September 1st no night landings could be done at ZYLD due "airport terrain, runway lighting and weather".

The weather was foggy, and I heard the plane may crashed on to a tree before it's landing, it lowered too much before it reached the airport, and broke in air.
