It's certainly a lot of categories, but what the hell. It gives everyone a chance to be considered for at least one award.

I'm happy with these categories, now we just need to sort out the awards themselves. As I said before I think it would be simple and effective to have some kind of icon that can be displayed on the members profile page and also hopefully on their side bar, a bit like this:

These could be removed after 12 months except in the case of the lifetime achievement winner, who would obviously be entitled to hold on to it for life!

I was wondering if we could maybe organise this so that the results were announced during the forum meeting in Vegas?

At first I was thinking that may be too far away. Now I'm not so sure anymore...

Why is there a rush for this anyways. Right now there are so many categories that would turn some people off from the whole thing. I think some people have high expectations that a ton of people are going to even participate in this which I really doubt.

Thats ur opinion which is fine, but once the categories are ''finally'' decided and this topic is in the ''discussion section'' of the forum, people will think its fun, worth while and exciting, as after all the forum has beeen quiet recently, and lets not forget this forum has tons of members and has been going strong for a long time, and really this topic is long overdue for its members, so I think it will be welcomed and something different, and thats my opinion! I didn't say the categories would put people off, I speculated that the quantity would. And of course these are just opinions, that goes without saying.

 

You two seem to have a lot of interest in getting this going. Which categories would make your final cut? How would you to implement this and keep track of the votes.

I haven't read through all the posts here yet. We have other higher priority stuff we need to get done, such as upgrading the forum. But, keep the ideas coming...we can kick it off sometime next year after all the dust have settled.

I don't like the "Best Topic" nomination because every topic that could possibly be created just ends up being moved to the General Topic (something which I feel hinders a lot of good potential conversation). The only things not moved over are "newsworthy" or information on "releases".....none of which constitutes as an actual topic, in my opinion.

I think there should be 10-20 categories max or people will be too lazy to vote and get confused and ...
