Job Hunting in 2010

Hello everyone,

I graduated this April, took a vaca for almost 2 months abroad, and got back 2 weeks ago. The job market today isn't so promising since businesses are taking the conservative stand and deleveraging. Maybe I shouldn't be worried, since it's only been 2 weeks, but I wonder, esp. recent grads, how long did it take you get find a job? Any tips? (I have a seasonably competitive resume, majored in Finance, Bachelor of Commerce...AND, I've been actively looking for/applying to jobs)

Use any and all connections that you have, and promote yourself for who you are! I have been hired already and I just graduated in May. Just stay positive :)

I'm job hunting too. I have a casual job as a shop assistant but I'm studying Vet nursing and really need to get work that's relevant to my studies. It's very frustrating.

I am not college educated yet but I worked for the same company for 3 years and was laid off because the business closed [was a small business], was trained to do things from customer service, taking calls, and filling lunch orders, making food for business meetings, deep cleaning, general office and cleaning duties, working with 8 dogs of all types [chiuahuah to pitt buills] have amazing references, was a model employee and I can't get hired at mac-fudgin-donalds or fricken Wal-Mart so yeah. And it's because people who went to college are generally gettng those lower end jobs because the people who should hire them aren't hiring/their business is slowely dying, etc. LAME. And it's not cause my age because you don't put your age on resumes. Edited by Scramasboy
