Guybrush Threepwood Posted July 5, 2010 at 08:07 AM Posted July 5, 2010 at 08:07 AM Hi Not to long ago I spoke to some of my friends about Celine's 'Unison' Album. And they don't seem to know of it!! It kind of made me sad to think they had never even heard 'If there was any other way' and 'If love is out of the question'. And I felt that this amazing album (which I love) of Celine's early music isn't acknowledged much any more. Has anyone ever felt this way about Unison? Quote Guybrush Threepwood
ghazal Posted July 5, 2010 at 08:23 AM Posted July 5, 2010 at 08:23 AM not about unison but about her other albums YES!!!! and it makes me really angry Quote

And it really hurt me, and made me realize how ignorant she was It's sad, it really is. But alot of people obviously know and love her, THE BEST SELLING FEMALE ARTIST OF ALL TIME! That's because we live in a radio-obsessed world, where hardly anyone buys albums anymore. Let's be honest, Celine has never been a massive singles artist, and that has, in a way diminished her "star power"...at least with younger generation who are accustomed to hearing artists like Usher, Beyonce, and now Lady Gaga on the radio 24/7. It's not really their fault, though. It's just the shifting of society, especially when it comes the United States. She's still revered in many other parts of the world, but the fact that she hasn't had a big radio hit in the United States since ANDHC, way back in '02 is a relative testament to where her popularity as an artist is, today. 1 Quote Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/patjsully

Me too, me too! That medley was one of Rene's better ideas of the last couple of years. It was perfect, because it had some of her older hits (other that TPOL, LCMM, etc.) and some new songs. Tyler1991 Posted July 5, 2010 at 08:32 PM Posted July 5, 2010 at 08:32 PM (edited) Yes, I definitely agree! Plus When I Fall In Love and Unison were sang at the millennium concert (only talking English pre FIY stuff here...) But what you said is hardly true too....WDMHBN and IYAMT weren't ever 100% live after 1992 (with the exception of that Oprah medley that was a mediocre one minute each on the non-challenging parts). You are correct on BATB, I forgot about that.....so we have three songs that have been done in one off performances. Big deal. Then we have TPOL and LCMM which don't need elaborated upon any further.... I have always been kind of angry that so much of her early English career has been ignored. We don't have any concert releases until 1997 (don't even try to tell me TCOML Concert counts because with 3 live songs it surely doesn't), which at that point most of her great songs she had already stopped performing.... at least we have TV specials for Unison Concert and Dix Ans Deja that we can look back to, but for Celine Dion era and TCOML we have nothing. There were so many great songs that were performed in those eras that we will never see...... from the CD era we have: With This Tear, Water From The Moon, Did You Give Enough Love, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, Natural Woman, Nothing Broken But My Heart.....and from TCOML Era there is: Think Twice (yeah we do have promo performances, but nothing on any concerts), Everybody's Talkin My Baby Down, Only One Road, and Calling You.... Yes, I know we have 1-2 performances each for a lot of those songs, but all in terrible quality, some mediocre in terms of vocals, or if good vocally then even shortened (cut verses, etc)... and none in a concert setting! Very well said, I agree with you completely. Every other dang song is Lady Gaga, and it gets annoying. It's like, let's hear the best singer in the world once in a while!? Too bad there isn't something we can do to change that, or is there? I couldn't have said that better.
