Celine stuff in Japan?

Hello all,

 

I didn't know exactly where to put this inquiry, but this seemed the best place.

So here goes: I'm leaving for Kyoto in a couple of days for a scientific conference, but I'm also hoping to do some serious shopping

 

So are there any good record shops in Kyoto? And are there any special, must-have Japanese items you could recommend?

 

Any help would be much appreciated

I love Celine shopping in Japan because there are lots of HMVs! I've been to one in Tokyo and another in Kagoshima. It's great for buying the Japanese album editions! I'm not sure how much the older albums cost, but when I bought Taking Chances and Complete Best in 2008, they were about £13-£14 each.

 

So I would highly recommend going to HMV, there are 2 in the Kyoto area:

I went to Japan in 2008 with the intention of buying the Ultimate Box. Unfortunately, I never found it, and a few months after I returned they had all gone from Amazon sellers, so I missed out on a genuine copy. So I don't think you'll find one there either, especially now the release date was over 2 years ago.

 

As for singles, I think the HMV stores have them, as they had AWTBI when I went in 2008. So you might find some recent singles easily in store. On the HMV.jp website, they still have 'To Love You More (Remixes)' in stock, so you might be lucky and find some older singles there.

I never looked in second hand music stores, so I can't tell you what you might find, but I'm sure you could find some 3" singles.

I finally get to post these finds:

- The complete best

- Taking chances (Japanese edition with 18 tracks including Map to my heart and The reason I go on)

- 2 editions of The colour of my love

 

HMV (I only had time to visit one of them) actually had the most limited selection of Celine stuff, so I bought these at Book-off and Movix. Nothing real rare, but small gems for me nevertheless
