Maria Sharapova wins the WTA Championships

Maria ended the year in great fashion, winning the WTA Championships in an electrifying match against one of the toughest players in the tour.

 

The first set was very close, with both players holding serve until 4-4, then Williams broke Maria's serve and held her own to take the set 6-4.

 

In the second set, Maria was broken in the opening game, but she took control of the set and won 6 games in a row to win it 6-2.

 

Apparently Serena Williams was suffering an abdominal injury during the second set. However, Williams stormed past the first 4 games of the third set, taking a 4-0 lead with two breaks of serve and hardly allowing Maria to win a point. However, at that point Maria started to improve her game an quickly retake control, winning the next six game to win the match and the Championships.

 

With this win Maria will climb to # 4 when the WTA rankings are released tomorrow.

I like her a lot. I think she looks even better than Anna Kournikova. and her skill is much better than Kournikova.

I'm telling ya, Russian girls rule women's tennis. I think like 4 or 5 out of the top 10 women players are Russian. She's pretty hot too
