luigimanzanares Posted May 10, 2010 at 01:59 PM Posted May 10, 2010 at 01:59 PM I observed that Aaron Kelly (of American Idol) handles the mic like Celine, so I did my research. As per wikipedia, his musical influences are Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and Celine Dion, so there . . . Celine has a trademark way of handling the mic. I could tell if a singer is doing it like Celine (Lara Fabian also copies her mic techniques, extensively). Quote

Of course there are not so many ways, I was just trying to find a connection. Celine has a very unique way and when I saw him pull it like that, I thought maybe he has been influenced one way or another..Its not really with the mic or the copying but the fact that Aaron 'likes' Celine Edited May 10, 2010 at 05:54 PM by luigimanzanares Quote
remykyes Posted May 10, 2010 at 07:17 PM Posted May 10, 2010 at 07:17 PM Aaron is so freaking adorable. And his voice is awesome! Even though I swear that AI rigged it's votes so he went home instead of Casey last week, I'm sure he's going to make it big in the business. And I'd it if he did a duet with Celine. It's a general rule that the louder you sing the furher away from your mouth you put away the mic. Celine, however, seems to approach it the other way around - her hand with the mic is like a rack and she moves her head sideways from it whenever she gets loud. Quote

volleyceline Posted May 13, 2010 at 02:04 AM Posted May 13, 2010 at 02:04 AM (edited) LARA SCREAMS CELINE SINGS! I was recently listening to "I'm calling you" since both Celine and Lara sing that song. (Not a duet of course though.) And the high notes they hit, Lara screams the note, and doesn't quite hit the right note. Meanwhile... Celine reaches each note beautifully! I really don't know who Aaron Kelly is The French press has once labeled her as a screamer back in the late 90s. She tried very hard to match and beat Celine in that department. Her voice in the high notes is just volume and hollow, in contrast to celine's soulful and distinctive voice Edited May 13, 2010 at 02:29 AM by luigimanzanares Quote

I'm cracking up right now, because I had no idea what you guys meant by her signature way of holding the mic until I read this. Now, I'm not a singer, but whenever I pretend sing I always move my head sideways from my "air-mic" when I "hit" the high notes. My friends always think I'm weird for doing that and ask me why I do it, and I tell them I'm not sure! lol Now I know! Quote
