At one of the events, Mark Hudson, who co-wrote "The Reason" with Carole King, talks about the song and performs it. I captured it on video and thought you might like to see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cwr0oxIsDU He talked about how the song was originally pitched to Aerosmith and Steven Tyler loved the song but Joe Perry did not. He also talks about how Carole King didn't think Celine would sing the line "I Want To Floor You". Sorry I couldn't post the whole thing - this video converter I'm using for right now only lets me do 5 minutes worth of converting - the video wasn't much longer than that originally. Then Celine Dion did it, and it paid for my divorce, my hair transplant and my (male enhancement). “If you're gonna get rejected, wow, what a way to get rejected. Usually when that happens, the song ends up on your answering machine or the CD becomes an ashtray. This one ended up on an album that sold 28 million copies.” Hudson originally penned the lyrics “In the middle of the night, I'm going down 'cause I adore you, I want to floor you,” with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler in mind. Co-writer King told him there was no way the prim Dion would sing those words. “But we sent her the demo and she loved it,” Hudson said. “Everyone good wants to be bad. She showed up looking like a Q-tip with an accent and said her favorite part of the song was the "I want to floor you' line. The song is filled with sex tension and inuendos.
