Do you think Celine always sing My Love with true emotional?

My friend - a Celine's hard fan and I had a 'discussion' about this. She said that recently, Celine seems acting when singing.

(oh my, I pressed the wrong key when typing  this topic is incomplete I'm typing....)

No I Believe shes true but if you notice that she is human and the song was way more emotional the first times that she sang it live, but soon it became routine and she was less emotional when performing it.

Don't know why but I can't edit my post to make it complete

I think the difference is that WE are emotional each time she sings it. Sure it was more emotional for her the first few times she sang it, but like she has said, she tries to be in the moment and remember there are fans out there that are living for THAT moment, who may have never heard her sing that song before, or who have traveled hundreds/thousands of miles to hear her sing that one song (whatever it may be). I have read she picks people out in the audience that she sees are truly emotional and she said she will sing that song just for that person that night. I've seen her do this, it's truly amazing.

I've also seen her make an old man go from crossed arms and grumpy to up out of his seat and dancing. Just by giving him a wink and a smile haha. That made me laugh. These are the ways she keeps herself "in the moment" and keep sit from being repetitive. She feeds off the audience.

So yes, I think she lets the emotional side of the audience fill her and influence her singing. That's one of the beautiful things about Céline. She lets us in to give her inspiration to sing absolutely heavenly :) It's such a great connection, too.

dahh love her.

I agree with Nmj. At the beginning Celine did get more emotional, which is understandable (and happens to all singers). If you watch videos of her performing the song in Europe you would see that it really was difficult for her to sing it. Watch for instance the performances from London, Copenhagen and Paris. She was really crying and you could tell those were real tears and that there was something hurting her. During the US leg she did get less emotional and some nights she may have tried to hard to get the emotion across. But that does not mean that it was fake. I also think that it may sometimes depend on how she is feeling. I mean if you look at the performance of ''My Love'' on Oprah, you can tell she was really hurting, even though at that stage she had performed it a million times before. But the whole Oprah episode was very sad and she probably wasn't feeling well because she was sick, so I guess it was easier for her to feel the song.

I think that that song has a very special place in Celine's heart, and even though Linda Perry explained the meaning behind the song, I get the impression that there is something about that song that only Celine understands and feel.

Exactly Well Said Claudette, She's only human as she sang the song more and more it became less emotional but still great non the less

I notice that she always cries when singing this song. Whenever I heard this song, it touches me. And I feel that, she is singing with true emotion. But my friend, she thinks that Celine is trying to cry. This is not her real emotion, not her real tears. And my friend try to avoid hearing My Love in world tour, cause it may be the reason that makes her love for Celine reducing.

Edited: Is there anything/reason about Celine that you are avoiding to see so that your love for her is still completely?

And if anyone answer my topic, please say 'Yes' or 'No'. I'm counting :P

Your friend doesn't know what she missed. In my opinion that was one of the highlights of the concert. It was the one moment in the show where you really got to see the vulnerable Celine. The whole show showed a Celine that is clearly in controle of her life and career, except for that song. I don't know, can't explain it, but everytime she went and sat on that piano, I felt the urge to protect her.

Edit: To answer your second question: No, if you really love someone, you love them for everything they are.

My friend has been in 6 Celine world tour concert, she did not remember her feeling when seeing Celine performed My Love for the first time. But the almost, she and her friend felt fed up when Celine was trying to cry (as she said so)

I think that whenever she sings My Love, she ALWAYS sings with emotion--we have to remember emotion doesn't necessarily mean crying every time. Some times she might feel the emotion in the song on the inside, where we as fans cannot see it, or other times just simply we see the emotion on her face, but she isn't crying. And then, of course, there are the times when she does cry while singing it. But I've always had the feeling that song is special to her, so I do think she is always singing it with true emotion.

I for one, truly love everything you all said. My Love is truly an emotional song. Just not copy-cat sung each and every time. Love the way she sings it anywhere and and time!!

No, that would be a 'yes'. I think she always sings it with emotion and really means what she sings. I'm just saying that sometimes she might feel it deeper than other times and then it is easier for her to get emotional during the song. Think about it. When something hurts you, at the beginning you cry about it or whatever, but as time goes by, you start to heel and you don't cry about it anymore. That does not mean that it doesn't hurt anymore, it just means that you've learned to deal with the pain. Then something happens that reminds you about it and you may end up crying about it again... Understand what I'm saying? Celine still hurted at the beginning, so she easily cried when she sang the song. Later she started to get over it, so she had to work harder to feel the song.

I though that I would post two of my favourite performances of the song which I thought was really emotional:

London:

- If that was not real, then I don't know what is. If you look closely you can see a tear rolling down her cheek around 1:50. Even when she starts introducing the song at the beginning, you can really hear and see that she is having a hard time talking about it. It was not her best vocal performance of the song, but I could really sense that there is something hurting her that night.

Sorry for my bad English :blushing1: I thought that you say 'No' and the reason that she did not sing with full emotion, is can understandable :P

To me, whenever I watch Celine performing this song, I always be touched from bottom of my heart (even in case of low quality on youtube ^_^ )

And Claudette, you made me cry :P Thank for the link

I think that our forum has 'ton' of bugs :P . Don't know why but I can't edit my post for the second times and can't create a thread with poll  (or may be I don't know how :blushing1: never mind :blushing1: )

Admin/Mod: Could you please edit this topic so that it includes poll? I just want to prove to my friend that there is no Celine's hard fan thinking like her ^_^

I think the song means a lot to her, but I think that sometimes she probably exaggerates that emotion for the performance more than other times. Like when she sings All By Myself...she's not really a single woman growing old alone, but she puts a lot of emotion into that too.
