meanttofly Posted March 26, 2010 at 10:34 PM Posted March 26, 2010 at 10:34 PM It should probably be posted in the Youtube thread but I was so surprised to find this that I thought I had to share it in a new topic. I´ve known this song for a long time but I didn´t even imagine it had an official video. It sems from around 1991. Do you have any data about the song? Here´s the link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=202mAmRU4Rg Quote

Davey84 Posted March 27, 2010 at 10:45 AM Posted March 27, 2010 at 10:45 AM yeah I knew it excited! I even have a 7" single from this song! from wiki: Billy Newton-Davis (born April 26, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio, United States) is a Canadian R&B, jazz and gospel singer-songwriter. Newton-Davis grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio a suburb of Cleveland. He was one of two lead singers in a local soul band called The Illusions. After working as a singer and dancer on Broadway, he moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1980. His debut album, Love Is a Contact Sport, won the Juno Award for best R&B/soul recording in 1986 and included the hits "Deeper" and "Right Beside You". His 1989 follow up, Spellbound, included his biggest Canadian chart hit, "I Can't Take It", as well as the Celine Dion duet "Can't Live With You, Can't Live Without You" and again won the Juno for best R&B/soul recording.Newton-Davis subsequently joined The Nylons in 1991. Since leaving the Nylons, he has primarily concentrated on songwriting and live jazz and gospel performances. In 2008, Newton-Davis won the Juno Award for All You Ever Want as Best Dance Album. Openly gay, his On A Boy's Life (2008) is a "celebration of all the naughty things men can get up to when left to their own devices." "Can't Live with You, Can't Live Without You" is a duet between Billy Newton-Davis and Céline Dion, released as a single in 1989 in Canada.[1] The song was featured on Newton-Davis' album Spellbound. "Can't Live with You, Can't Live Without You" was later included on Dion's Japanese maxi-single "Unison" (1991). It was written by Dan Hill who also wrote for Dion "Seduces Me" on her 1996 album Falling into You. The "Can't Live with You, Can't Live Without You" music video received a MuchMusic Video Award for Best Video in 1990. The song was Dion's second commercial English single after her 1985 "Listen to the Magic Man." Céline Dion performed this song during her Unison Tour. I think it's an amazing song, and it's so sad that none of her later 'collection' albums never featured this great song! Dionesque Posted January 19, 2011 at 08:29 PM Posted January 19, 2011 at 08:29 PM Cool 7" single, Davey! I don't have that one but i have the Japanese "Unison Remix" maxi-single instead which also includes "Can't Live With You, Can't Live Without You" (catalogue number: Epic ESCA 5458). I really love this song! I also knew there's an official video, unfortunately I only have a snippet of it in my collection. Would love to have the entire video! Alex_Incognito Posted January 19, 2011 at 08:32 PM Posted January 19, 2011 at 08:32 PM It's an awesome song. I first heard it around 2001---those songs were unknown to me before then! Lots to catch up on when Mrs. Angelil was off birthing. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
Matej Posted January 19, 2011 at 08:43 PM Posted January 19, 2011 at 08:43 PM I love Can't Live With You, Can't Live Without You. It's very beautiful song from the Unison era, good drums arrangments. I have the Japanese Unison Remix CD, one of my best (and expensive) Japanese releases. But I don't like the videoclip. Quote

Tyler1991 Posted January 19, 2011 at 10:07 PM Posted January 19, 2011 at 10:07 PM I'm so grateful we have a performance of this amazing song. The performance is better than the CD. BTW, the guy she performed the duet with (in concert, not the CD) is the same guy who later sued her a few years later for some royalty rights for the song "Dreamin' Of You" and also revealed that she lipped in concerts.. Interesting fact worth sharing Quote
Dionesque Posted January 19, 2011 at 10:42 PM Posted January 19, 2011 at 10:42 PM Actually I love all the duets she performed in that era, in 1989 and in the early 90s: Can't Live With You, Can't Live Without You - with Billy Newton-DavisWishful Thinking - with Dan HillCan't We Try - with Dan Hill (live only during "Incognito" tour, there's no studio recording for that duet as far as I know) Listen To Me - with Warren Wiebe Plus haut que moi - with Mario Pelchat (ok, this one was a bit later, in 1994) Have I missed anything? Céline wasn't sparing her voice - she was putting her all heart and power into these songs! J-Man Posted January 20, 2011 at 08:47 AM Posted January 20, 2011 at 08:47 AM (edited) It's a bit of a worry that some people who I would consider big fans haven't ever heard of CLWY,CLWY. It's not even that rare of a song. Makes you wonder what else people haven't heard. We do indeed need this and some of her other lesser known songs on a collection CD. Oh and Barbara, for recorded duets of the time, you could also include: Love lights up the world: with Peabo Bryson & Color Me Badd andIt's hard to say goodbye/Mejor decir adios : with Paul Anka There's a topic somewhere listing all these type songs.
