Hey everyone,

I would love to get a few people's opinion on how they feel about you French language and how, if, it has changed over the years and so on.

I have to submit an essay on language change for my university class and I chose French as my language to analyse.

Hope you can help!

Thanks in advance.

I took French in highschool at the age of 14. I loved it so much that I majored in French at university and moved to France for a year. It shaped my life very nicely.

I'm sure someone can give more information on this, but when I attempted to add the French dictionary onto my computer, I noticed a lot of bad reviews. A lot of people we're saying that the French dictionary was recently updated and that the dictionary available for download didn't reflect the new dictionary. I don't know much more though. I ended up downloading it and don't know French well enough to know if it's a good dictionary or not. I believe I downloaded it through Microsoft (or Firefox). Hopefully someone can give you more information, if not maybe you can research it. I'd be curious to know myself.

♥ Thank you, Céline for giving me the greatest birthday I could ask for! ♥

I don't know if this will help your project in any way but I can sure give my opinion on French language! :D

I started learning it at the age of 14 as well and in high school I fell in love with it so much that I then went to university, French as my major. This year I'm doing my teacher's studies, so I will become a French teacher. I don't know much about the change in French language though.. but I do remember when I was 14, it was very common to start studying a foreign language (whether it was French or some other like German, in our school), and in my school for example there were several language groups (both French and German). But nowadays I hear that the interest in languages (apart from English I guess) in general has decreased, at least in Finland and I think in elsewhere too? At least that's what they keep telling us at the school where we are doing our "internship" this year. And I believe it's true, I mean this school is way bigger than what my school was 10 years ago and they only have one French group per grade and there are about 10-15 students in each group. So if only 10 students out of, I don't know, 100 (?) start learning a language each year I think it's quite a small amount.. I feel in my time it was almost half of the grade.. :shrug:

What else.. well French has surely influenced my life a big time!! ;) If it was suddenly taken away from me, my life wouldn't be the same.. it's such an important part of it! And even if I didn't end up a French teacher, I'm going to do something that involves French. I've spent three summers in France, working, and still I want to go back there over and over again. Can't get enough of it. ;)

Well that was just a more personal view of it all. :)

Hi guys;

Still need some help. I need to hear from a few people how the French language has changed perhaps the pronounciation, spelling, new words, words that aren't used anymore; that kind of thing.

Hope you can help!!
