Posted February 7, 2010 at 10:18 PM Posted February 7, 2010 at 10:18 PM Multi-award winning singer Celine Dion wants South African orphans to feel part of the 2010 World Cup, so she has planned to throw parties for them themed around the tournament. Dion, who toured the country in 2008, visited the African Children's Feeding Scheme in Soweto which feeds about 26000 impoverished children every day. She pledged to give them R300000 a year for five years. Dion visited the orphanage with her husband, René Angelil, and her son, René-Charles, 9, who took part in dishing up meals for the children. The Dion-sponsored feeding scheme has so far hosted nine parties for a total of 9000 children. Now she wants this year's nine events to be themed around the World Cup with soccer-themed snacks, soccer balls for the children and staff in Bafana Bafana kit - all to show them just how important the event is to the country and make them feel a part of it. Said Dion in a statement: "I am so delighted that we have entertained over 9000 children in Soweto, South Africa.
