Anyone from or knows Denver?

Hi!

I'm going to be in Denver later this month for a while to work.

I've never been to Colorado, so I don't know what there is to do there.

Can anyone suggest places to go, things to see, places to eat?

Thank you! :flowers:

I don't know if this is what you're looking for but last time I was out there visiting family in August, we went horseback riding up in the mountains and it was beautiful. Colorado is by far the most beautiful state I've visited & going on a horseback ride through the mountains was beautiful. Some pictures:

The best meal I've had in YEARS was at Uniscali, just south of Denver.

I'm trying to think of other things but I didn't do much (I went skiing when I went back in March, but that wasn't that great lol) out in the city and spending money, I guess. Aurora (east of Denver) has a pretty cool outdoor mall.

Wonderful photographs. Thank you.

I was tempted to ski while I'm away, but I'm not sure my insurance covers it!

The horse-riding.... I might give that a miss - I don't like horses!

I am from Denver! :D Now I can't help with skiing as I have never done it lol But I could definitely suggest a few restaurants and random things to fill up your time while you are there! :) Do you like Mexican food?

Ah, well I like to ski, but I don't think I will have the time.

I do like Mexican food, yes.

I will be staying in Commerce City, and driving up to Henderson each day to work - if you know what's in these areas, that would be very helpful! :)

I will have a car and a GPS, so I will be able to get to places, but I don't know what's good, what's not good, where to go, which bars are good, which bars are not good... I think it will be fun to explore though!

Well if you are looking for bars I would definitely go to LoDo (Lower Downtown) down by Coors Field. LoDo's Bar & Grill is very popular and a fun hangout. Other good places to eat would be Brewery Bar (there are Brewery Bars II, III, & IV. II is closest to Downtown. I recommend crispy chile rellenos with green chile), Hacienda, Red Robin, Cowboy Lounge, Denver Chophouse & Brewery, Tavern Downtown and Blue Bonnet.

If you like sports, I'd definitely recommend checking out a Denver Nuggets (basketball) or Colorado Avalanche (hockey) game. You can find tickets pretty cheap and, depending on the opponent, you can typically get them at the door. Both of those teams are playoff contenders these year so it is a guaranteed to be a good game whichever you choose and the Nuggets hardly lose at home so it is also a guaranteed win. Other places I would suggest going would be 16th Street Mall, Larimer Square and Elitch Gardens. There is also Cherry Creek, though it is 'uppty', the shopping mall is very nice. I am a poor judge of clubs but I know The Church is popular night club. And I don't know if you'd get a chance to go up to the foothills, but a tour of Red Rocks Amphitheatre (in Morrison, CO) can be loads of fun. It is an amazing venue and very interesting. Unless you plan on spending an entire day Downtown, I wouldn't bother with the LightRail just because it can get expensive and crowded and parking is really easy to find downtown.

Oh and if you are feeling a little...adventurous, you should try Rocky Mountain Oysters. Now I say adventurous because they aren't real oysters - they are actually deep-fried bull testicles. If you are up for trying that, I know The Buckhorn Exchange is pretty much famous for them. I think they are worth a try, it is a unique taste and they're not as bad as you'd think.

I will try to think of more :) I hope this helped a little!

Thank you for the information! :flowers:

The chophouse sounds good!

Not sure about the Rocky Mountain Oysters though. I wonder if I can get the guys I'm working with to try them. Maybe after seeing their reaction to the flavor and texture, I'll give it a go!

Cherry Creek Mall looks good too - it has a Saks! My sister's favorite perfume is only available at Saks, so I have to visit there. Also, the cinema there will be showing Through The Eyes Of The World! I can do two things at once! :P
