My heart will go on - Studio sessions

I just wanted to know where can I find a video of how Celine recorded her biggest hit, My heart will go on. I know that she only recorded the song one time (the demo version that can be found on the Titanic Soundtrack; the version from Let's talk about love is an edited version). I watched a one-minute video of this recording-session once, but now, I can't find it.

I've never seen a video of Celine recording MHWGO. I think we'll never see it, since they want us to believe that MHWGO was recorded in one take...

She never said she did it in only one take, she said she didn't record the song twice. She could have used hundreds of takes for the demo, and still say she never had to record the song again, which would be true.

Yes actually, where to see that?Does it exist?Very good question that never came to my mind..
Thank u Jesus. Im in ur hands now.

The song was recorded in one take and without instrumental accompaniment. Horner, Dion, and later Sony Music Entertainment decided to use this first recording because "Dion's voice was perfect."

she did say that i think during her 2002 The View appearance. she recorded it as an a-cappella, and since then, she never re-recorded it because it's already perfect. ^_^

and i don't think the recording session was filmed

yes you are true! I didn't mention a studiorecording, only about making the videoclip.

óh yes there is one - but is only about making the videoclip, and you can find it on the Au Coeur Du Stade dvd

Would love to see that studioversion though! but I am afraid there isn't one on video.

Or someone must be friends with James Horner or James Cameron,

I bet they know more!

It was not filmed. There's only the making of the video-clip.

The recording of the song has been done secretly, remember? :P

Well it's an interesting discussion, because there are the two versions. Which one is the secret version, which was redone? My guess is that the LTAL version was recorded later. But if it isn't in the LTAL sessions, who knows...

I already knew about the making-off the music video because I've got the Au coeur du stade DVD, but I'm sure about I saw a mini-video of the recording of the song, it was about 10 seconds.

Not sure where to find the making of can be found but has anyone noticed there are two very different ending to My heart will go on ???

Found on the Titanic soundtrack

The version heard on Let's talk about love

I thought Celine said in a few interviews that she only recorded ONE demo and it was perfect so only one was ever produced?

The one on the titanic soundtrack is much more mechanic, with only electric piano and strings.

The Titanic soundtrack was a bestseller, and I think of course also because that song.

I bought that soundtrack right after seeing Titanic, but later on I wanted the single of MHWGO the radio version.

that is the one we came in love with!

For the rerecording - or better - new mix -sounds like they used the same voicerecording again, but this time with a better instrumental part.

I did not know she rerecorded the song (voice) again for that mix.

I think that My heart will go on was near to become a rare track, like Would I know and I have to dream, because Celine didn't want to record the song, but, while she singing it on the studio, all the people that were there instantly fell in love with her voice and with the song.

But I'm still very very sure about I've watched a mini-video showing a little part of the recording-studdio of the song. I just don't remember where I saw it!

Yes, I'm 100% sure about that, because I've got the Au coeur du stade DVD, and the making off the video is included in one of the extras. I remember that I've also watched a mini-video of how Celine recorded this song!!!!! I'm completely sure!!!!!!!!

To be honest, I am quite surprised that they would have even made a video of the recording session. I mean, Horner did the demo in secrecy with Celine and Rene, and didn't even tell James Cameron (the director) until after the recording was finished. Also, Celine initially didn't even want to sing the song.

I just find it very hard to believe that they would have gone throught all of that, considering all of the "nays" about the song in general. Then again, I'm sure they had no idea that it would become one of the best-selling in history and that Titanic would become a cultural phenomonon and rule the box office....

I also think for 100% that the version on LTAL is the re-recorded version and the demo version is on the soundrtrack; it sounds way more relaxed and 'raw'

it's a shame they didn't put that version on ML, it would have been something else!

now I also always wondered this.... I think she also recorded special vocals for the remixes....

:hmmm: what do you think?? Are the vocals speeded up, or are these different?

the 2 versions are exactly the same as far as Celine's voice is concerned except for the last sentence "go on"

i find it peculiar when fans just repeat back what they heard in a Celine interview to other fans , as if we didnt see the the same thing or heard the same over told story by now  lol, How many times have Celine said the same thing over and over again. :giggle:

well from what I understood, is that the demo was just one take. but making more takes at the same recording session would still count as 'recordings to make the demo'. BUT recording vocals on another date... with music that has been altered a lot and notes that aren't the same... that's what I would call a re-recording, if not 'the actual recordings for a song'.

all this talk made me play MHWGO soundtrack version :P :P :wub2:

Davey, I doubt that the vocals on the remixes are re-recorded.

hmm yeah Dhruv, I dunno... the could be 'leftovers' from the sessions, or just speeded up, but to me they sound different.... but I aint no notes expert :P

But the same goes for the IACBTMN mixes... it's like she recorded different vocals, that would suit the fast music... I'm not saying it's the whole song, but maybe parts!

maybe the remixers just did a fantastic job! :giggle:

For the MHWGO remixes, all of them have the very same vocals from the original album version. The only "different" sounding vocals are for the Tony Moran remix but that also is an edited one from the album version. No re-recorded ones. Same goes for the IACBTMN or any of Celine's remixes. Like Celine said, she hated the remixes of her songs so I doubt she'll ever re-record her vocals for a remix. Or if there is one where she re-records, I can't seem to recall them

Could it be that you ment that?

But I don't think that the studio-pictures are from the original recording session. Seems to be taken from the "S'il suffisait"-recording sessions. Anyway it's nice to see the song put together with differnt performances.
