mirage Posted January 21, 2010 at 11:31 AM Posted January 21, 2010 at 11:31 AM (edited) I guess you know that Nature Boy was initially recorded as an orchestrated version, but as happened with other songs from ANDHC album, they thought it didn't sound great and played a piano only instead. Don't you have curiosity about how this song would be with more music, with a full orquestra? If it sounds the same as "Prayer" (as Jorge Calandrelli, the man who played the piano on Nature Boy appears credited as the orquestra arranger and conductor on this song) it has to be glorious I saw this posted in another thread by Javito. I never knew this story, so I did some searching and I think I found the orchestra version...Jorge Calandrelli has an website Now my mind is playing with me, still not sure... but hear for yourself... http://www.jorgecalandrelli.com/ menu --> music --> nr 14 it's not the whole song, but maybe we can get it by emailing him or something... anybody knows how to get this version as mp3? i only can play it on the site... Nature boy was recorded for the first time by Nat King Cole , Celine says. It closes my album A New Day Has Come. It is Eddy Marnay, my accomplice, who spoke to me about it. I recorded it for voice and piano, accompanied by Jorge Calandrelli, who worked with Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand.""This is the one I had the most kick out of in the studios, Dion says. I could hear the pedal of the piano and the touch of the keys while I was singing. We were following each other. It's the real thing."" In the listening, we preferred not to add the symphonic orchestration nevertheless very beautiful which was originally foreseen. The original duet gets closer to the purity. I find it magic." I'm pretty sure there's much more Someday we will have "Love Still Exists" and "¿Sabes Cómo Es El Amor?" (and maybe some other songs we don't know, hopefully!) I'll do a mp3 in the afternoon it doesn't take away the charm of the song, the orchestral arrangement doesn't interfere with the piano at all, sounds very good to me. Agree with that. They are very different, but any is better than the other. The orchestra doesn't interfere at all with the piano, but gives it a superior feeling, grandious. The album version with only Céline's voice and the piano was a very appropriate for closing the album, but I think this orchestral version sounds better now Quote "Hush, now... fred Posted January 21, 2010 at 01:46 PM Posted January 21, 2010 at 01:46 PM This was really fun. NB is a true masterpiece, and I love the emotional effect the ANDHC version has on me, mystical yet pure and warm, nostalgic in a way. The orchestra version (no it sounds nowhere like Prayer, but more a a dinner album kind a way a la Streisand's movie album) is nice, but it doesn't sound in sync with Céline. If they were to use it she should had been in the studio together wih most parts of the orchestra to get the real emotion, it feels pasted on, as it is. As much as I'd for her to do an album with all orchestra this track is better the way they ended up choosing - the ANDHC version. When I first started listening to Céline in the 90ies, I was frustrated about how much cheap sounding instruments she was surrounded by. The electric piano seemed to follow her as a shadow. And I couldn't really see why, to me that was an abuse and a mockery to her own genuine instrument. So it is always nice to hear her along with real traditional instruments. Orchestra would do that, but the stripped down version on ANDHC does so too and I have to admit, in this case, in a better way. Thanks for the detective work Robin! Now go fetch LAEE English version and HYEBIL Spanish version, for us please. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.

With that said...I would have to say I like both versions equally, but for different reasons. I believe the version on A New Day Has Come fits better with the "flow" of the album. I think an orchestral version would have sounded a bit random and out of place. Perhaps one day the "Orchestral Mix" will surface onto maybe an edition of The Collector's Series series? ...Joe... We don't know for sure if they used leftovers of ANDHC for One Heart, but still today we have never seen behind the sceness footage of her recoding this album, except for IDAN Also, some of the recording studios in the credits match with the ones used in ANDHC. This added to the fact that they recycled HYEBIL and SFL for this abum, makes much to think and suspect... like they ran out of new songs or didn't have time to record a new album because Céline was focused on the Las Vegas project... Well after all it looks like the only new song she recorded for this album is IDAN, needing to find a matching song to promote the Chrysler cars? I'm just speculating here of course, but it was all done very weird. The collectors edition of ANDHC released in 2008 could have been much better than what they did. They could have included the 2 new songs of the special edition, and new pictures from the big photoshoot she did for this album, but they didn't do anything about this (they didn't even include Superlove again, after 6 years, and they called this a "collectors edition" ). TC has also unreleased songs, which were supposed to have been released on a special edition of the album in 2008, but again, same story as always Edited January 21, 2010 at 09:44 PM by Javito Quote "Hush, now...
