Ne-Yo thought Celine was "too serious and proper"

People (read: some fans) are so easily in making judgements about others (read: Ne-Yo).

 

Ne-Yo seems to be a real gentleman here. That's more than can be said about some people who are making comments here.

 

Great he wanted to work with her!

He's not only a brilliant songwriter, but a great singer too.

Hope he'll record a duet in the near future with Céline, like he did with Sarah Connor, Mariah and Rihanna.

I think some of you are getting the wrong end of the stick here... he is basically saying that he expected her to be "too serious and proper" but he actually met someone who was "an Elvis impersonater" - someone who didnt take themselves seriously etc etc... he's paying her a compliment!

Nothing wrong with him people. Celine is like a Elvis impersonater in a good way, she is a funny person and a great live performer like Elvis was

yes he was positive about her, however the problem is that people like Ne-Yo are hot; it is all r&b and rap nowadays and they all sound the same to me. Celine knew that working with such a hot producer would probably give her succes on her album.

And the funny thing is - ain't got nothing left is not a typical r&b song, when it would have had more vibe in it, a catchy rhytm, who knows what it could have been? I did not like Will-I-am contribution to the eyes on me song either.

TC is one of my all time Fav albums. Song For You is amazing, is like Fado (Portuguese traditional music), with one of best love poems ever written.

 

IGNL is a song that I love so much and has a special meaning for me, even I'd have done a shorter version.

When they say 'Elvis impersonator,' they mean it literally. Ne-Yo was expecting to work with a serious professional (obviously she's not Lindsey Lohan) and when he saw her doing funny things like Elvis impersonations, he saw the Celine whom we all know and love. The author of this article does a poor job reflecting this. He could have instead said, "For Celine whom he thought [would be] too serious and proper, he saw [a very rare display of quirky behavior through] Elvis impersonations [that could push Wayne Newton into retirement]."
