Katharine McPhee on meeting Celine..

The Strategy Room Entertainment Hour had a special guest Thursday: American Idol Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee.

 

McPhee answered questions our viewers emailed in, performed her single “Terrified,” and talked about the people and places that inspired her latest album, “Unbroken.”

 

“I went to Nashville to do a lot of songwriting there,” says McPhee. “I think that had a big influence on me. I didn’t make a country record, but it definitely came out funkier, with a lot of storytelling.”

 

The former Idol contestant also talked about meeting one her own idols, Celine Dion. McPhee says she was so excited when she first saw Dion in person, she actually cried.

 

“I was really blown away with how gracious she was to her backstage guests before the show,” says McPhee. “She’s just really gracious and I love her and her voice is just so freakish, nobody else can do what she does.”

Yes it was her number 6 on the top 25 things you would like to know about katherine mcphee in Us Weekly. . And that she cried. I thought that was amazing and inspiring.

As much as I like her voice, I don't like her personality and I also remember when she would mention Whitney, Mariah and most other R&B artists as her influences when her debut album came out which was tinged with R&B/Pop. It's weird now that she comes out with a different album with a slightly different sound, she also differs her influences

I also remember the not-so-nice remarks she made about Celine. I voted for McPhee during American Idol and when I saw her comments in Entertainment Weekly about how no one wants to record music like Celine anymore because no one listens to that type of music, I canceled my amazon order for her album (McPhee's - not Celine's!)

Did anyone see Katharine McPhee and Andrea Bocelli singing "The Prayer" on David Foster's special :Hitman? Sorry, but I do not think that Katharine is in the same league as Celine...... not in a million years! I thought it sounded horrible! Celine and Andrea all the way... Sometimes I can even listen to it when she sings it with Josh Groban... he is that talented! Also, Andrea and Josh are really talented, and increbible in their own right! However, I heard once the two of them sing it together, and for some reason the duet has to be with Celine!

David does not work as often with Celine as he used too! Katharine's career at least her last two CD's were extremely disappointing. Even the one she worked with David. I just do not think that she has that spark with David Foster like the other people he has worked with! Hmm, I still think Katharine is recording the wrong stuff! Disappointing since she can have a great voice when she does the songs that were meant for her.. country is not it, and what she has been recording is eh!
