Listening to Celine is part of Oprah's lifestyle

Nothing new but turns out listening to Celine is actually part of Oprah's lifestyle and is now included in a book describing Oprah's life day by day.

I remember last year when Gale was singing BYLM in the car and Oprah was just so annoyed by it though

New book chronicles a year living solely by Oprah's tips

05 Jan 2010

Readers are to be given the chance to see how successful Oprah Winfrey's tips are for day-to-day living.

A Chicago-based author has expressed her relief at finishing her latest project, a book chronicling a year of living solely by the advice dished out by Oprah Winfrey.

Due to be launched next week, with the start of a new year always prompting a surge in demand for self-help and improvement guides, Living Oprah tells how Robyn Okrant spend 12 months following every single snippet of advice handed out by the talk show host.

Such lifestyle hints include taking up yoga, listening to Celine Dion and becoming more environmentally-aware.

However, despite much of the advice having turned out to be sound, Okrant has revealed that the book is far from a "sycophantic" work, and is unlikely to be included in Oprah's own Book Club at any point soon, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Explaining how the constant barrage of advice led her to the point of exasperation, she told the newspaper: "It might not be the case of the blind leading the blind, but it's certainly the stressed leading the stressed."

Meanwhile, Singer Rihanna is reportedly set to launch her own photo book, co-authored by her artistic director.

yeah, when Celine was on Oprah said "if you haven't seen her in concert, go buy a ticket right now!" So the woman bought a ticket. There was a documentary about it. I personally find bloggers kind of annoying...

I don't think it's a book about Oprah's life. It's about a person who watched the Oprah Winfrey show daily and when Oprah gave advice, ie "Go buy Celine Dion's new CD", "Eat more fiber and fish", the person did it and wrote about the affects of takingadvice from the Oprah Winfrey Show/O magazine.

Oprah wasn't annoyed by Celine, she was annoyed by her friend's singing to Celine.... because she was awful

Lol, well I believe that! Both of them are major female figures, and probably admire one another a lot. No wonder she's had Celine on her show so many times!

The actual title of this project is called "Living Oprah." It chronicles the life of a Chicago woman who religiously watched The Oprah Show for a year and lived her life according to Oprah's recommendations. One of the things Oprah mentioned, and I believe it was on the show when Celine appeared via satellite from Washington DC to greet Charice, was that every person should at least see one Celine concert in their lifetime. So, being the loyal follower, this woman went to see Celine when she was in Chicago last year (along with that horrid blizzard). Prior to the show, she blogged about how scared she was to go and that she knew no songs by Celine except Titanic. Turns out she actually somewhat enjoyed the show and was very impressed by how similar Celine's voice sounded to the original recordings. She also found herself singing along to all the songs...songs she initially thought she had no knowledge of. Here is a quotation I found particularly noteworthy:

"Before the concert, we were positive we didn't know a single Celine song, other than the theme from Titanic. After the concert started, we realized we knew every song. Her music really sinks into the fabric of sound we hear on a daily basis on TV, in malls, in movies. I think much of her music sounds similar...in fact, I'd be hard pressed to be able to differentiate between any of her original songs I heard last night...but I suppose there's something to be said for having a voice and a musical library that becomes background in so many of our lives."

She was actually featured on CNBC, MSNBC, and the Today Show talking about her minor Celine experience. Visit her site. It's quite fascinating. On a side note, her main goal of this project was to illustrate that anything associated with Oprah sells. She started out as a freelance writer and suddenly she associates herself with Oprah and she has her own website of followers, a book contract, and a plethor tv interviews.

oprah was referring to AND in las vegas when she said those comments but anyway, i doubt oprah cares that much for Celine's music. because it isnt gospel based. she would more like things like DIana ross etc :innocent:

Anything associated with Oprah sells...100% true just look at the White House

Celine Concert Becomes Part of a Social Experiment

February 5 , 2010

In 2008 Robyn Okrant set out on an interesting social experiment; one she never suspected would lead her to a Celine Dion concert. The task - to spend a full year living by Oprah's wise words as given every day during her show. In October 2008 Celine made an appearance on The Oprah Show and performed live. Oprah exclaimed to her viewers that they must all, at least once in their lifetime attend a Celine Dion concert. With Celine's Taking Chances World Tour making a stop a few weeks later in Chicago, Robyn accepted her task. She loved Celine's show and was surprised to realize that she knew most of the songs too! Robyn's one-year project has been published in a recently released book entitled "Living Oprah".

OMG! Is this not a recap of what I said above? The official website needs to start giving this forum some credit. :pinch:

Hmm...she seems like a total attention whore to me. In many of her posts she dissed Celine and was awaiting the concert with the same anticipation that most people reserve for dental drilling.

For example, check out this:

"livingoprah said...

memeGRL, i would have LOVED a madonna concert. why oh why did i have to see celine when MADONNA is out there, shaking her 50-year old butt? i love hearing how you were feeling - it actually made me feel a little lighter about the whole reliving-the-celebration show...xoLO"

AND this:

"The downside of the show for me was (cover your ears, if you love The Dion) Celine singing. It was a taste of the concert I'll be seeing in a couple weeks, on Oprah's advice. And you know, I can't say it tasted delicious."

AND this:

"Today, in speaking about Céline Dion, Oprah told us, "And for you at home, if you haven't seen Céline in concert: you must." I actually howled. Yes. Howled. In horror. I know, I know, people out there adore Celine and I respect you folks. I really do respect your right to love lousy music. HA! Joking. Seriously though, I REALLLLY can't even overstate how much I don't like her voice or her over-the-top persona.

My husband, trying to ease my tension with something funny, said someone at Harpo must have scoped out my site, read about how much Céline makes me want to throw myself into rush hour traffic, and had Oprah stick it to me. Not. Funny. Jim. "
