Defining Moments

I received an email from a friend that talked about defining moments that can change the course of the rest of your life or even just the moment in time when you need that change. We all, for the most part, know Celine's defining moment. As best I can tell, it occurred when her mother took her to Rene's office and she sang "Ce n'etait qu'un reve" for him and made him cry. If her mother had not insisted on going to see him, we would not know Celine as we know her today or probably not even at all.

 

Personally, I had a life changing moment right around the time Celine's "Taking Chances" album was being released. IT started with the song "The Power of the Dream" but continued through this album. There is so much that says to me that that album came out at the right time (regardless of your personal opinion of it) The titles of the songs, the moods the songs set, even Celine's feelings about the album. Since then, I have been working towards something I have been desiring for a long time and believe wholeheartedly that it will come to pass . The passion I feel for this project was inspired by Celine.

 

Anyone else out there have a "defining moment" that was inspired by Celine or something "Celine-related"?

When I met her. I know that sounds lame cause it seems like after you meet an idol you life is probably changed a bit, but in my case I was able to close a chapter of my life after I met her. 4 years before I met her, my mom died and that's how I became such a fan of hers. We played BYLM at my mom's memorial and from then on I connected Celine to my mom. My dad started dating soon after my mom died and so I was left to figure out how to move forward on my own. I sank into a HUGE depression, I was suicidal and only hanging on for Celine. I lived, breathed, did everything Celine. It was how I could focus on something that wasn't the pain of losing my mom. I kept saying, I just need to meet her, once I meet her I'll be okay... etc. I look back and know that had I met her when I was at my worst I wouldn't have had anything to hang onto, anything to live for... So some 3 or 3.5 years after my mom died, I started to pull out of my depression, I started to live for me and not just for Celine and eventually I moved forward and "got better". Only then when was I finally moving forward did I meet Celine and that was the perfect closure I needed to move past those bad four years of my life. It was like I'd moved on, but needed that one PUSH to close the chapter completely. So after meeting her I was able to move forward in my life and better myself because of her and because I met her. Now all I have to do is hope that this current step back into Celine obsession is not a new "bad" chapter but just me loving her...

Sorry, but I would say Celine's defining moment would be the birth of her son, not her singing for Rene.

On Boxing Day, I was watching one of the Biography specials on Celine....and I walked into a wall.

 

On a more serious note, there are many times Celine has inspired me, I just can't think of a major one right now. Will let you know if I do!

Sorry, but I would say Celine's defining moment would be the birth of her son, not her singing for Rene.

 

 

She could have more than one. Obviously, the one I mentioned was a defining moment for her career. Most definitely, the birth of Rene-Charles would be one on a more personal level. I think she would "own" both of those.
