Jacqui Posted October 28, 2009 at 11:26 PM Posted October 28, 2009 at 11:26 PM If I remember right, she had RC's name all picked out months before he was even born, didn't she? I think you guys are right, that she'll probably name it after someone she loves...but please, not Rene again! That would be almost comical. And while her Dad sounds like he was an amazing person...his name is kind of...not so nice...(Sorry! But I remember Celine's Mom even saying she didn't like his name!) especially if she wants to raise her child in America, people would probably not be able to pronounce it so well...but hey, maybe that's what she wants, it wouldn't surprise me... who knows?!!I kind of thought the baby might have the middle name of either Marie or Joseph, following that kind of tradition in her family...but maybe not. We shall see...Yeah I spend wayyy too much time thinking about people's names! Anyway, for a girl, I like Madeline, or Chantelle or something..they're kinda French sounding names... Therese is good too.For a boy, I have not even one idea. Quote

Lou555 Posted October 29, 2009 at 03:56 AM Posted October 29, 2009 at 03:56 AM (edited) All those french names given by many of you guys are either old or too funny. Here is a 2008 list of the 100 most popular names that would be more likely to be given by Céline if she chooses a french one for her baby. She has already a lot of nieces and nephews that have some of those mentionned here. Here is the list by order of popularity : http://www.rrq.gouv.qc.ca/Interactif/PR2I1...Prenoms_01.aspx And yes Jacqui, he or she will have either Joseph or Marie if the baby is baptized but than again everyone has it on their baptism certificate but no one uses it in real life. Belle Céline Posted October 29, 2009 at 03:57 AM Posted October 29, 2009 at 03:57 AM (edited) I don't think she'll give the baby any of her middle names. I never really like it when parents do that. IDK to me it just seems corny. Two of my best friend hate that they got their mom's middle names. Whatever name she picks I'll love though. I love RC's name. Joseph Rene-Charles Angelil. But boy that's a mouth full to say! Two middle names is to many sometimes lol. I'm not gonna guess on a name because I don't have a clue and its not my place to guess. The name choice is up to Celine and Rene not us lol. RC was named after Rene and Celine's grandfather from her dad's side, maybe she'll use family names again. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick did for their twin girls Marion and Tabitha. So wait....they have the name Marie or Joseph on the baptism certificate but its not their actual middle name? So what is Joseph not really RC's first name? Wouldn't that mean Marie isn't Celine's middle name either? Celine using her name for the baby? No I don't think she'll do that. I agree with Jacqui, Celine's dad's name I don't like and it doesn't fit for a newborn either. I know she loves her dad but I don't think she'll use his name either. She'll pick a more modern sounding name probably. So what is Joseph not really RC's first name? Wouldn't that mean Marie isn't Celine's middle name either? Joseph and Marie are given to everyone and what you call a middle name used to be the name of the baby's godmother(if it's a girl) or the godfather(if it's a boy). That's why Céline has Claudette as a middle name because Céline's sister Claudette is her godmother. But I don't think it's always the case these days. I don't know if RC has his godfather's name Alain on his baptism certificate....probably but I'm not sure. Anyway no one uses their middle name either. That's why if you don't look at Céline's baptism certificate she is only Céline Dion....yeah I mean the one and only of course! and their son is René-Charles Dion Angélil. Why? Typically kids aren't given both parents last names, I've only ever saw kids have their mothers last name if the mom is a single mom usually and doesn't want them having the fathers last name. This whole not actual middle name thing has me confused. I don't get the point in doing it if its not the person actual middle name. Is this a practice in the Catholic church? I still don't get it, is Celine's actual name Celine Marie Claudette or is just just Celine Claudette? I'm probably just over thinking this and making it more complicated than I have to. I'm sure this is simple but I'm making it complicated. I'm sure this is simple but I'm making it complicated. I don't know if he has Dion as a last name, (or if he does, why...) - that's a good question! Middle names...well, what are they, really? I guess even for Americans, they're just an extra name you have. It's probably a similar thing in this case, only there's a special traditional meaning behind the extra name. If you're writing your full name on a form, you probably include it, but if you're introducing yourself to someone, you probably don't. It seems it's a Catholic tradition in Quebec, but it's not the case everywhere. I'm Catholic, and I wasn't given the middle name Marie, nor was I given my Godmother's name when I was baptized- but, when I did the sacrament of confirmation, I had to choose a Saint's name to add to my name. Legally, it's not part of my name- it's not on my Drivers License or anything. If I were telling someone my full name, I would include it, but that's just a personal choice to do so. I don't think Celine has a confirmation name, despite being Catholic (at least I've never heard her mention it) so maybe the Catholic tradition just varies among different cultures? Quote
