I didnt realise that there wasnt actually that many ppl attending...only just over a million? surely not....also thought there wasnt that much of a gap between celine and madonna for the shows!!! xx

The interesting part in this list is that Céline Dion got an average of 219 USD per person and that she is the number 1 when you get the average per person... :icon_mrgreen:

For example:

Rolling Stones - Bigger Bang tour 2005-2007: 116 USD per person

Madonna - Sticky & Sweet 2008-2009: 115 USD per person

U2 - Vertigo 2005-2006: 83 USD per person

The Police - Reunion tour 2007-2008: 199 USD per person

Rolling Stones - Voodoo 1994-1995: not available

Rolling Stones - Licks tour 2002-2003: 88 USD per person

U2 - 360° 2009-2010: 99 USD per person

Céline Dion - Taking Chances 2008-2009: 219 USD per person

... (alll the other shows behind Céline are also lower)

You can make some conclusions from this:

- Fans are willing to spend more money to see Céline Dion than any other artist

- The market value of Céline Dion is higher then other artists, actually the highest of all.

Offcourse those conclusions can be countered since every show is different. Céline's shows were seating only which raises the average price compared to a standing of mixed concert. But it gives a clear indication however

It's probably true that total earnings from Taking Chances tour is $279,200,000, but! again they made a mistake. If 9,586 is average attendance per show(that's not true), then how actual gross can be $279 million?, total gross would be less then $150 million. If Celine sold out 99% of concerts in north America, or 97% of concerts in Africa where she had a concerts in open air and 250 000 people seen her, then probably average attendance per show is 18 000, it can't be 9, 586 :nono: Average price for Celine concerts tickets is $102, for Madonna is $120, , and while Celine had a tour mostly in SPORTS HALLS, Madonna had tour on STADIUMS, and she had to done second part of the tour, to be better then Celine, she never before had to add more concerts on her tours, and to do another part of tour, but now her team saw the potential danger from Celine, plus she had the most expensive tickets in 2008, that's why in total earnings her tour is more successful then Celine. They also made a mistake about U2 360 tour. Manager of U2 said that they earned $205million from concerts on stadiums, not 299 million as they say in Wikipedia.

why they didn't add "A New Day" with total gross of 400 million? because Celine had concerts in the same place, but at least they can tell how powerful she is in music , to continually be so successful without too much promotion :yes: almost $700 million of her concerts for 6 years, or maybe :hmm: this is too much success for someone like Celine, who is not American singer. I'm sure that if Madonna achieve such success in Vegas like Celine, they would consider that and talked about it constantly :yes:

I don't think it's correct

Madonna Sticky & Sweet:

Average gross per concert: 4.800.000 USD

Average visitors per concert: 41.716

This gives: 115,06 USD per visitor

Or:

407.713.266 USD for 3.545.899 visitors: 114,98 USD per visitor

This proves that those figures are correct, yes?

Céline Dion Taking Chances:

Average gross per concert: 2.100.000USD

Average visitors per concert: 9.586

This gives: 219,06 USD per visitor

or

279.200.000 USD for 1.265.385 visitors: 220,64 USD per visitor

The 360° tour is still running but:

Average gross per concert: 6.800.000 USD

Average visitors per concert: 68.181

This gives: 99,73 USD per visitor

or

299.000.000 USD for 3.000.000 visitors: 99,66 USD per visitor

So it can be that the numbers provided are incorrect but if you trust the given numbers then you will see that my calcullation is indeed correct.

The word AVERAGE can be very deceiving. Average is not even a real number. It's not lowest ticket price, it's not highest ticket price, not even the most popular denomination sold, but average. Average attendance and ticket price doesn't mean all her shows packed 9,586, each person paying 219 USD each. On the other hand the chart does give you real number: $279,200,000 actual gross. Total people attending 2,300,000. Total number of shows 132. So if the average attendance per show is 9586 (that would be taking FIRST an average for each show, and THEN taking all those averages, summing them up, and getting a new average), the average attendance for the whole tour would be as someone previously stated, around 18000, or more specifically, based on that chart, 17424.
