dj4celine Posted August 8, 2009 at 07:23 PM Posted August 8, 2009 at 07:23 PM In this thread, we discuss what most of us use/want/desire in a car or motorcycle or bikes. Whatever you want to post related to automobiles, just do it. Be it your 'dream car' or 'dream motorcycle' or anything related with real life automobile issues. Do you have your own car or motorbike? Do you need help in choosing your future car? Whatever it is, just post it here. I'm gonna start with my very own 'dream car' and 'dream motorbike'. I always wanted a Porsche and when the new Porsche 911 GT2 was launched, I just fell more in love with the car. Like the slogan 'Respect Required' this car is all about respect. http://www.ilovesubstance.com/images/cars/2008-gt2-porsche/2008-gt2-porsche-997-turbo.jpg When Suzuki came out with the Hayabusa way back in 1999, I just drooled over it and knew that this was it . The latest bike is a beauty http://thekneeslider.com/images/08hayabusa.jpg Ok so let's see what you guys always wanted Quote

Only have to fill it once a month ( don´t have to drive far) but it´s to small if you have a family. It´s large enough for me and my Chihuahua Quote

dj4celine Posted August 9, 2009 at 10:01 AM Author Posted August 9, 2009 at 10:01 AM The R8 looks really mean like its supposed to be. The curves near the end make me go hug it but the front seems too big for me The TT is nice but really compact IMO But the LED lights on the R8 are like no other Quote

Krys Posted August 9, 2009 at 11:13 AM Posted August 9, 2009 at 11:13 AM The R8 looks really mean like its supposed to be. The curves near the end make me go hug it but the front seems too big for me The TT is nice but really compact IMO But the LED lights on the R8 are like no other the car aint perfect but its still a mean beast well, the TT is a coupe lol. its a small car didnt Audi started using the LED lights on their other cars too after the R8 got them? Quote
dj4celine Posted August 9, 2009 at 11:50 AM Author Posted August 9, 2009 at 11:50 AM Krys you're right about the LED lights. I think all the models have it now except the Q-series as it has the winglet headlamps from the previous models. But I think the Q3 will have it on its launch. I'll have to check the auto-forums for that though. Quote
Krys Posted August 9, 2009 at 11:59 AM Posted August 9, 2009 at 11:59 AM ahh kay. i noticed the LED lights thing cuz i saw some A4s on the roads having the lights. every time it scares the s*** outta me cuz the first thing i think of is "is that an R8?!" Quote
dj4celine Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:07 PM Author Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:07 PM I think you'll see one R8 in every 1000 other Audis Just like I see only one Porsche 911 in every 100 or so other Porsches here Quote
Krys Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:11 PM Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:11 PM yes i know. the R8 is a very very rare car lol. every other day i see a Porsche Cayman parked at the hotel must be the owner's car. its always there with a BMW 5 series and an older Audi A4. i was queing up behind a black Porsche Carrera one day at the traffic light Quote
dj4celine Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:16 PM Author Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:16 PM OMG! I'd be looking at the Carrera instead of moving forward. I haven't seen a Targa here in Delhi though. I've seen a lot of Caymans and Cayennes. The SUV sells the most here and is quite understandable why. The roads here arent meant for the other low-ground clearance cars in India Quote
Krys Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:18 PM Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:18 PM i was staring at the Carrera i even took a picture of it yeh i've seen a lot of Cayennes as well. there's one in my neighbourhood our roads are not meant for the road huggers too. we got too many bumps Quote
Krys Posted August 10, 2009 at 05:35 PM Posted August 10, 2009 at 05:35 PM out of curiousity and pure laziness, i got to ask this ques: Dee, is there something with the letter C and Porches? They all seem to have names starting with C Quote
dj4celine Posted August 10, 2009 at 07:36 PM Author Posted August 10, 2009 at 07:36 PM No, not all of them. Panamera and Boxster being the examples Quote
Bralo20 Posted August 11, 2009 at 09:24 AM Posted August 11, 2009 at 09:24 AM Our oldtimer from the local fire department... Revealing after a restoration that took a couple of months, only 2 days prior to a trip to Austria for an international display of fire trucks. http://www.first-response.be/mods/stijn/volvo/sized_DSC_6568.JPG All the Flemish national newspapers wrote a article about it: http://www.first-response.be/mods/stijn/volvo/GVA.jpg(I am the largest on the picture ) Our oldtimer in Austria a couple of days later: http://www.first-response.be/mods/stijn/volvo/sized_DSC_6917.JPG http://www.first-response.be/mods/stijn/volvo/sized_DSC_6982.JPG Some information about this unique firetruck... Make: VolvoType: N86 (rebranded N88 after delivery in 1966)Engine: 6 cilinder turbocharged diesel engine (6 in line)Horsepower: 190HPYear of construction: 1966Year of delivery: 1967Year of decomission: 1992First restoration: 1994-1999Last restoration: 2007Next restoration: 2010 +/- This truck was build as a prototype back in 1966 for the Belgian government in the hope to get a contract to deliver firetrucks during the next years. Volvo offered 2 versions (which are both preserved) on base of the "Volvo N-series" truck with a diesel engine. Both prototypes were completely hand made. The first prototype was build in 1965 and featured a portable ladder instead of a watertank. The second prototype featured a watertank of 2.400 liters but had no ladder. Both trucks were build in my hometown bij a local workshop in co-operation with Volvo and Wasterlain (the supplier of the pump). Unfortunately Volvo didn't get the contract for delivering the firetrucks, the trucks were to expensive to build and therefor they awarded the contract to International who had an identical truck but with an International chassis with a gasoline engine. Both prototypes were sold, the first one went to the fire department of Soignies in Wallonia, the second one remained in Londerzeel were it joined the fire department of Londerzeel. From 1966 until 1992 the truck was on active duty, from then on it went to reserve status and due it's uniqueness (only 2 similar trucks excists worldwide) we kept it in a good shape. When we were invited to an international gathering in Austria we decided it was time to refurbish the truck to make it like new again. We started on February, 1 in 2007 and the work was completed on May 12, 2007. During this time a team of 7 volunteers spent more then 1.100 working hours refurbishing the truck. 7 companies, including Volvo Belgium, helped us on several parts of the restoration and the transport to Austria. Work done: - Sheets of metal (front doors, back doors, wheelcovers, etc...) with corrosion have been replaced with new sheets (hand made)- Pump removed and refurbished- Refitting airhoses for the brakes- Repairing the engine brake- Repairing some leaks on the engine- Removing the paint and repairing dents- Removing every single piece of equipment, doorknots, stairs, etc... cleaning it and/or repainting it- Removing copper tubes and removing paint and polishing it instead- etc... And to finish the whole truck was resprayed in the original factory color (which we had special made from samples). Due to the absurd timelimit we have not done the rooftop and some smaller issues, next year we we start again to complete the job. The truck is still fully operational and is fully equiped including a full watertank. It has still his place in the main station of our fire department and we'll use it to visit other fire departments, open house days, etc... Quote ...
dj4celine Posted August 14, 2009 at 12:11 PM Author Posted August 14, 2009 at 12:11 PM (edited) Wow! You guys restored quite a beauty, Bralo It looks so cute. The only thing missing would be a bell on top instead of the sirens. That would have made it look an classic EDIT: Even though I was quite pissed to not have had a holiday today and wanted to skip classes, I'm glad I went. I saw a Prosche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and it was going right in front of me. There was a huge traffic jam and never was I this happy about a traffic jam. I could admire the beauty in all its glory Edited August 14, 2009 at 12:18 PM by dj4celine Quote
