More than $ 42 million for Celine Taking Chances

"Le Journal de Montreal "wrote the article about Celine Dion tour Taking Chances rank at the 5th with $42.6 million (by pollstar) among the most lucrative in north America" FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 2009 TOURING " behind the Brithey Spears, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John...Later in the article they say, that Taking Chances tour ended in Omaha at the end of february. Obviously they made a huge mistake, first they say she is still on tour , then that she finished the tour.Last year they wrote the articles, that she earnd almost 140 million$ ( we know she earned much more) end now they forgot all.I can't understand why they do it to her, even in french Canada.Why they continually give wrong information about her. For them she can't be better of Madonna.Celine is also to blame because, last year her menagement didn't notify true information, and now they said something on her site.

The list is only for the first 6 months of 2009 and since eline toured till march, her gross between january and march was included and that gross was 42.6 million. Add it to the 232 million of 2008 you would get a total of 275.6 million for the Taking Chances tour.

I correct myself, when I said she earned last year 140 million I thought 240 million. Anyway music is just a business , but how Celine even dare to be powerful?

Her earnings from the tour might have been $140 million, whereas the tour raked in 250+ after all Celine does not pocket all that the tour or a cd makes, there are costs for logistics, promotion, actual production of the tour (which is probably something like $15 million), salaries, hotel rooms, flight lease, AEG Lives share, arena costs. Considering the tour made approx 280 million, earning half isnt that bad for an artist, and it would be similar to her Vegas contract (which was also with AEG). So it doesnt have to be a mistake. Why would you say it's wrong? They say her tour ended five months ago and give her ranking (number 5) for the first six months of 2009 with their source "Pollstar - for Top 100 North American Tour" :

This source is also on Céline own website so I guess that's where they have found this info don't you think?

Is this earnings from january to jun or from january to the end of february? Total revenue of the tour is estimated at approximately $ 200 million (another confusing) it has to be approx $280 million, Pollstar said for last year, TC tour made almost 240 million.

I know what you mean, I think most newpapers like to create confusion sometimes.

They are all very confusing today because it's about the same in every other article from different sources here today like "Canoe"or "Châine Argent" or "Musique Plus". Even "Cyberpresse"who chose as the headline of their article : "Céline Dion rapporte moins que Britney Spears" which means Céline brings in(or generates) less money than Britney Spears and when you read the article it says that it is only for the first 6 months of 2009 and that Céline's tour ended at the end of February.

Finally what they are all saying is that in 2009 :

- Céline did 24 shows in 22 cities in 2009 and is the fifth most lucrative tour (From January to June 2009)

- Generated 42,6 M (between January and June 2009) but her tour ended at the end of February 2009

- 393,249 tickets were sold for that period in 2009 for about 1 934 759$ per show

- 108.24 $ US was the average price of her tickets

 

And that the full tour included 135 shows in 30 countries, in five continent for a little more than a year(2008-2009) for total earnings of more than 200M
