Returning to the touring stage after three years on the Las Vegas circuit was a boon to Dion's bottom line. The Canadian singer was promoting the 2007 release of Taking Chances, her first studio album in English since 2003. The tour sold out in the U.S. and Canada, becoming the second top-grossing tour of 2008 with gross earnings of $237 million. Dion also released an English greatest-hits collection, My Love: Essential Collection, and a sixth perfume to her fragrance collection.

Celine does not have as much influence as Oprah. :shrug:

Apparently it, the world tour is making more money.. I think Celine should not return to Las Vegas. She should go on a new world tour. :)

Is this the same Forbes that last year, if I remember corectly, said Celine's entire fortune is worth $200 million? :giggle: They seem to get it right with her earnings for 2008, but they say she was in Vegas for 3 years... How Forbes ever got its good name, I would never know, they make so many mistakes, all the time.

What's remarkable here is that even as the tour didn't get the level of media hype and web buzz that could've put her in the Power List, it was a huge success.

 

A lot of people need the media $ucking up to them to be successful. Celine SIMPLY doesn't!

Celine is the "FORCE OF NATURE".She can make success without help of media. For example, behind Madonna is always a huge media machinery, and she still has to do something , to shock the media to pay attention on her concerts, Celine doesn't need to do that. Madonna has never done 135 concerts for 11 months, because she can . If Celine is not powerful, then how she earned so much money , sold out 99.9% concerts in north America, sold more albums than Madonna , sold parfumes, almost 3 million people seen her on taking chances tour , she gave a lot interviews for tv or radio stations all over the world during tour, and also gave money in charitable purposes.Simply, Celine is more successful, but she is from Canada not from America. :msn-wink:.
