samart Posted June 17, 2009 at 12:18 PM Posted June 17, 2009 at 12:18 PM I think that if she had the proper training that she would be able to do it but I love her voice and her notes just the way she is and does. She had the best training you could ever imagine. She had the same doctor/coach as Pavarotti! I would't base my judgements on her speaking voice either, since it's not generally the rule. Actually, quite often it's shocking how different speaking and singing voices can be. The only way for us to know whether she is a lyric coloratura soprano is only if she does this opera project of hers. Quote
delo3934 Posted May 28, 2010 at 07:21 AM Author Posted May 28, 2010 at 07:21 AM Well nearly a year after this has been posted, I figured that it was time to finally post her training her voice. It is the highest i've ever heard her go and it is caught at the 0:57 mark. Maybe finally we all will see that she is definitely, based on her voice range a lyric coloratura soprano. My voice teacher even confirmed upon listening that although she is only vocal training the volume, size, and attack on the note is equal to that of someone who has had some basic operatic training (which she did in the early nineties) and the vocal fach of a lyric coloratura!!!!! Heres the video: Quote
delo3934 Posted May 28, 2010 at 07:32 AM Author Posted May 28, 2010 at 07:32 AM Might I add that the note is the Soprano Eb. Which means E flat that is normally only performed by lyric and Dramatic cloraturas in thie higest arias in operas. Mostly for dramatic effect. If you want more of an example of this note or just to compare the pitch with Celine, go to youtube and search for the aria Spargi D'amaro Pianto performed by Natalie Dessay who is a lyric coloratura. This aria ends with an Eflat and you will hear what it sounds like in an Opera hall. Quote

fan2celinedion Posted May 28, 2010 at 11:17 AM Posted May 28, 2010 at 11:17 AM Do you really think she has done everything she can with her voice? Celine has it's own way of singing. Mariah's comparaison is not justified anymore because she can't do anything anymore. She has become a common r n b singer, she is no longer a vocalist while Celine's voice has expanded.I agree!!! AdrienneM Posted April 26, 2020 at 01:58 PM Posted April 26, 2020 at 01:58 PM (edited) Yes. She has been a full lyric soprano for basically her entire adult life Celine and Mariah are lyric sopranos.Whitney is a mezzo soprano. Whitney became a mezzo in later life, from 1983-1996/7 she was most definitely a spinto soprano Edited April 26, 2020 at 01:59 PM by AdrienneM 1 Quote

It's amazing how such two different voices can have the same voice classification. Mariah's voice is so different, let alone her huge range and whistle. Quote

I think that will give more concrete evidence so please look at it. Vocal fach cannot be applied to pop singers unless they have a truly developed voice. However, if we were to assign a fach for Celine, the closest thing to her voice will be between a coloratura or lyric soprano. And vocal fach is determined by the timbre of the voice, range not so much. 1 Quote
