Tori Amos Soon to Unleash New Album, Before Bellona

 

NEW YORK, Jan. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly two years have passed since the acclaimed Tori Amos released her gold-selling LP The Beekeper. Returning to the music scene in full force, on March 27 Tori Amos will unveil her new 15-track CD entitled, Before Bellona.

Ms. Amos is wrapping up the production on Before Ballona, which she's recording and self-producing in her UK studio Martian Engineering. Tori returns with a whole new heavier, more rock-based sound, sure to excite fans, old and new. Back is, of course, Tori's Bosendorfer, along with the Harmonium Organ, the Wurlitzer, the Bouzouki, and also more experimental instruments soon to be named by Tori. Matt Chamberlain and Jon Evans return on drums and bass, respectively.

 

Tori Amos explains, "Before Ballona explores a place that we as a civilization have not been a witness to for a very long time - a time and place without war." Tracks such as "Antagonism", "False Crusade", and "Eden's Lips" explore such themes as the female's role in conflict, and struggles for power. "Ballona" refers to the Roman Goddess of War

 

With worldwide record sales topping 13 million and multiple Grammy nominations, Tori continues to be one of the most interesting and respected artists in the music market.

She's gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous live and all her songs are little gems. True little gems... many of her interpretations en live like "Liquid Diamonds", "Thank You" or "Icicle" make my eyes all teary. It's magical and not many artists make my eyes go automatically all teary like that. Tori is genius.

Live at Montreux 1991/1992 is a Tori Amos live album and DVD set, released on September 22, 2008 in the United Kingdom and on September 30, 2008 in the United States. It features two separate performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival early in her career. The first 10-song set was recorded in July 1991 with the second 9-song set recorded one year later in July 1992. The bulk of the set list for each show was taken from Amos' solo debut album Little Earthquakes.

The complete set lists for the 1991 and 1992 performances are available on the DVD and the two-disc European CD. The single-disc North American CD release features all but three songs from both performances (the exceptions being "Silent All These Years", "Crucify" and "Happy Phantom" from the 1992 show). The three omitted tracks were made available as a digital download only.

the concert is amazing...the sound and video quality is very good

The concert has some nice recordings but but but it's too rough to my ears. She's gotten sharper already in the course of 1992/1993. Of course the song sung there are one of best ever written, not only by her. I mean really ever by anyone. Her first two albums are masterpieces. But these very shows while having some clear highlights don't light any sparkle in me.

the first album is very good...we know that the concert was recorded 15 years ago not to release as a cd or a dvd... she looks very shy in that time

Tori always sings live. The concert is great to watch, especially the first one, to see her before she became famous. She was definitely different back then. (She used to look really good, especially around 1996-89 - go watch performances from that era - and now, look how she butchered it all with the wigs and the facelifts *Tor®ible*) The 1991 version of China is beautiful. She sings a line I've never heard before.

It's one her better recent albums, but definitely not one of her best.

 

It's still a little long. I had to cut 4 songs off of it to make it a good album.

 

I'm scared of the rest of the videos. The ones that have leaked haven't been anything more then Tori running around in couture dresses looking like a zombie.

I share that the album is still longer. Her explanation is because some should be b-sides and they aren't release singles anymore, the songs are a gift to the fans. 12-14 would be enough.

 

The videos are ok. cause they are mute. They aren’t music videos, they are visualette, just that...

 

Leave sony was the best thing for her, she can go on her own do what she wants. The other 3 previews albums was Sony idea to introduce Tori to AC market

 

 

 

The album has a TO VENUS AND BACK SOUND…. Just love it

It's very sad that she felt the need to tack bsides on the album. Especially when in the past she has been such a stickler for the flow of her albums and the song sequencing.

 

The visualettes I've seen have done nothing for me. They're a self indulgent mess.

 

I enjoy the Venus/Choirgirl sound of the album, but unfortunately Venus by way of her Sony catalogue so it doesn't quite hit the potential it has.
