Las Vegas, some tips wanted ;)

Last night I couldn't sleep to well and that's not a good thing for my wallet  I ended up booking myself a weekend in Las Vegas during the first weekend of June. Since prices are rather good nowadays (thanks to the economics) it can be rather cheap to spend a weekend in Las Vegas, even if this means flying all the way from Belgium for it

I ended booking The Suite at THEHotel @ Mandalay Bay for 4 nights (4-8 june).

Since it has been over 2 years I was the first time in Vegas I wonder if someone has some tips for things worth seeing. Last time I spend only 2 nights in Vegas and did nearly nothing at all

Does anyone has an idea which company would be the best to charter a helicopter for some picture taking purposes? (so no regular by the book flight, but rather a do it like I want flight).

Thanks for the tips!

Last time I was in Vegas I did a daytrip to the Grand Canyon. Booked it on www.lasvegas.com

They have all sorts of excursions on there. They pick you up from the hotel quite early and u wont be back till late but for me

it was worth it. I booked it last minute which also gave me a big discount.

Im going next month for almost 2 weeks; I just plan on checking out the shows and trying my luck.. :D I still dont know what to exactlly do but we will figure it out when we get there because there is always something to see and do. I have looked at the site I Surrender mentioned which is good and theres also vegas.com.

Visit LAX, the club thats there. Me and a friend are invited there while Im visiting and i hear its pretty awesome. Dont know if your into that kind of nightlife.

Thanks for your comments!

Did anyone try the 20 USD trick yet? (when you check in and giving your credentials fold a 20 USD note and give it also while asking if there are complimentary upgrades available)

Does that actually work?! I shall remember that for my next trip there! :hmm:

I agree with 'takeachance'! When i went there, every night with my cousin, we would just roam the hotel and feel the breeze! Its just :o :o :o The whole time you are there! So definitely get a good eye on where you are staying!

Are you bringing your Canon HD cam? I regret not recording the Bellagio show Titanic song. :(

Don't know yet... But it's possible yes... I've bought myself an additional laptop (actually a small netbook) which fits my cameracase. So I'll probably take my HD cam as handluggage and put my Nikon in my suitcase.

I first planned at staying at Bellagio but after looking to the different hotels I found "THEHotel" at Mandalay a nice choice. The only "problem" is that Mandalay is located at the end of the strip but I assume there are plenty of taxi's :icon_mrgreen:

The 20USD trick should work indeed... It's not a guarantee (when the hotel is full, it's full) but it gives you a decent chance ;)

I'm definately going to visit some hotels now, last time I didn't have enough time to visit some hotels but I'm going to make time now ;)

Hope you can record the Bellagio fountains song.

As long as I doesn't have to stand there for hours I will do that ;)

It plays several times everyday at fixed time. You just need to check the schedule. I think record it at night is the best. Also I saw some videos from the tower across street, the view is amazing too.

The $20 upgrade will not work at hotels like Mandalay Bay or Bellagio :whistling: There is a whole site devoted to this on which hotels this works and doesn't, and those are definite no nos.

;)

Anyway, I'll try it with 100 USD or so since it's a suite I've booked :D

Thanks, I'll check it out at Bellagio when I'm there ;)

If you want to take in a show, I'd recommend seeing "O" at The Bellagio.

As for transport, the Deuce bus runs up and down The Strip an a very regular basis (if you don't want to spend all your money on taxis). Gets very full at busy times though. The other option is the monorail/trams. Visit this link for more information:-
