Hello everyone, I just booked a trip to China for this coming may, My excitement is beyond believe , I can't wait to get there. It's a total of 7 of us , most gay man :giggle: well not that it matters if we are gay or not but im a little concern about China being homophobic. i was told the country is. We are not a group of flaming queers but would like to know if there's any place where the homosexuals hang out. Also the weather in may should be nice right ? We are staying in the Le meridien Shanghai and at the Westin Beijing (new hotel) I hope to find all kinds of good food and also we need a Tour guide, I've had been looking online and there's plenty of them but if someone here knows someone i greatly appreciate the referral. I can always count on good feedback from Forum members. Thanks again , any information you guys can give me I thank you in advanced . Thanks again everyone!

P.S. What should we NOT eat?

May is one of the best month. China is not really homophobic, at least not the big cities like Beijing, Shanghai. Guys hanging out together should be fine as long as you don't do sexual acts or dress as trans on street.

Westin Beijing is not too far from me, but still about 15KM. Actually I just to went there today. I went to Beijing Financial Street Shopping Mall for some shopping.

You just need to make sure what the food are made of before you eat. I think if you don't go to very small restaurants it won't be too bad. Actually most big restaurants have English menu.

How much would you pay for a tour guide? Kidding. When are you coming to Beijing? I have May 1-3 and all weekends off.

Fly is much better. Actually it's almost impossible to book train tickets online in China. What's the flight price from Shanghai to Beijing you get? It's usually quite cheap. Maybe I can help you order the tickets? The cheapest one I find is only about US$70, it's about the same price as bed train ticket from Shanghai to Beijing.

Sure, a dinner is fine. You'll stay in Beijing from May 9 to which day? I have May 9 and May 10 off at least.

I don't know much about this. But maybe you can check price with these two sites or just call them. These are the 2 biggest travel agents in China. I'm sure they provide English travel guide service.

BTW, I think you should have your own plan first, don't let the travel guide lead you to places you don't wanna go or not interesting at all.
