Celine V.S. Mariah

What is it bewteen Celine and Mariah? It hasn't been such a long time that I'm a fan so I don't know. I'm a Mariah fan too. Is there any kind of rivalry between them? I've heard that Mariah once called a music store and complained that Celine's poster (which was on the wall) was bigger than hers. Don't know if that's true. Personally, I love both singers and would love to see them singing a duet.

So, could somebody explain what it is that there is bewteen Celine and Mariah to me?

Celine is too accomodating and nice to be in a snit with another singer. Mariah is too accomodating and nice to be in a snit with another singer. Don't believe a word of it.

Well, a lot of people used to say that Mariah and Whitney Houston were rivals and that they didn't get along. But then in 1998 they recorded a song together ("When You Believe" - Theme From "The Prince of Egypt") and I've seen interviews with both of them about it after they did it and I didn't see any indication of rivalry. So I know that many times, the press makes up rivalry stories between artists. That's why I don't understand what happens between Celine and Mariah.

I do think there could be a duet with Mariah and Celine - and wouldn't that be great?! But I'd just like to understand if there's any kind of rivalry between them.

It's strange because I've been to Mariah Carey forums and now I'm visiting Celine Dion forums and it seems like Mariah fans don't like Celine and Celine fans don't like Mariah. I happen to be a Mariah AND Celine fan, so I'd like to understand that...

Could somebody explain that to me?!?! What is there bewteen Celine and Mariah?

I'd like to say I'm sorry if my topic is bothering you. I didn't mean to bother anyone. And to be honest with you, it's been a long time since I last listened to a Mariah's song. I'm more foucused on Celine now, so I didn't even know that Mariah was doing well on charts! This has just been a question that I've wanted to ask for so long. Because I always felt there was something. And since you guys have been fans for longer than I have, I decided to ask you. This is not a Mariah topic. I'm just trying to understand more about Celine so I can connect that to other things that I like too. Hope you understand... If you have more to say about it, I will love to learn your opinion!

Mariah can't sing since long long time ago, at least 1998 or earlier. she uses playback for all the hard notes when she performs.

No comparison, Celine would blow Mariah out of the water!! Sorry Mariah fans! Nothing personal, it's just that to me, Mariahs voice sounds trained while Celines is natural....and no one can hit those notes and hold them as long as Celine!!

OK Guys! This is your opinions and I understand and respect that.

But what I really wanted to know is if there's any kind of rivalry between CELINE and MARIAH. But as whosarahre said and as I can see now, the rivalry in question is all among the fans and not the singers. That's interesting.

I guess I'm one of the few people in the world who's capable of being a Mariah's and Celine's fan. hehehehe :-)

I should say I like both Mariah & Celine.

Both of them are great singers, real divas!!!

But ... I prefer Celine to Mariah.

I try my best to listen to all Celine's songs , but just enjoy some of mariah's singles .

Mariah's voice seems to be skillful, while Celine's is natural .

and...Celine sing live better than Mariah , I think.

sometimes I really cant bare Mairah's poor performance compared with her own wonderful studio version.

I´d say both of them are great singers, at first. I´ve got some elder Mariah´s albums and I like it. Nowadays, Mariah tries to be commercial, her new album is not like her previous, my opinion . There is a big effort to be NUMBER ONE again, which is normal.

 

Céline is natural, more down-to-earth person, she can sing more than perfect. Mariah´s concerts are poorer, she doesn´t seem to be natural, her look is sometimes to me very phony.

the rivalery is definately amongst the fans!!!!!!!! I like some of Mariah's songs and stuff, but Celine is simply the best!! Not just because she is a better singer than Mariah, but because Celine embodies everything like personality, values, etc.

 

I remember going to a Mariah Forum and told them I like Mariah, but I am also a Celine fan, the nearly booted me, just for mentioning Celine!!! Her little LAMBS are KILLER LAMBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm sooo bored of topics like this one. ia really don't understand what's the problem. I feel the same except I have her songs in mp3s only, don't own any of her albums. Her older songs does have good beats and is catchy to the listener. I guess many admire her "dolphin" scream for the lack of a better term. Every time when there is a poll/contest with both artists in them, there's always some rivalry going on, it just seems natural for fans to lean this way.
