Alone performed on American Idol last night

Well since Alone was performed last night on Idol, it usually means increased sales for the week. Shall the ones who haven't gotten Alone on iTunes yet go for it this week?

She kinda got tired singing the song. That would have been easy for Adam Lambert to sing Alone.

I was disappointed that the girl didn't do the high notes, that I love hearing in that song. But everything else about it was great.

When she first said she was going to sing Alone, I went, no why would you do that to yourself. Heart's original is great, and now Celine's version is a vocal masterpiece (in my opinion). Allison (i think that's her name) actually did a great job with it, not as good as Celine's, but whose is??? I doubt this will boost sales, maybe later on in the competition.

Hmmm. i don't think it will boost sales cos it was Heart's name that was mentioned, not Celine.

I always felt that Celine´s album version lacked some passion and wasn´t a real reinvention of the song. It took some time.Towars the end of the tour she started to really make it her own. By the way, I think Carly Smithson´s version on the auditions of the last season of Idol was amazing, specially coming from an amateur singer. Check it out:

Alison sang it pretty well. i enjoyed her performance. she struggled a bit, but she knows her range. her control was amazing.

Alison's performance of Alone was the highlight of the night IMO.

 

But how does this relate with Celine's sales being increased?

Usually after a song is performed on American Idol, the original version of the song tends to see a good sales increase the next week. This year iTunes is doing a playlist of the original songs performed on the show. When it came to Alone this week, they listed both Heart's version and Celine's version. I'm not saying it'll go to #1 as a result, but it can never hurt anything.
