Grammy Awards 2009 Predictions

Who do you guys think will win in the top categories for this year's Grammy Awards?

Here's my predictions:

 

Record Of The Year

- Adele "Chasing Pavements"

- Coldplay "Viva La Vida"

- Leona Lewis "Bleeding Love"

- M.I.A. "Paper Planes"

- Robert Plant & Alison Krauss "Please Read The Letter"

 

I guess Coldplay will win this one, while I'd like Leona Lewis to get it.

 

Album Of The Year

 

- Coldplay "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends"

- Lil' Wayne "Tha Carter III"

- Ne-Yo "Year Of The Gentleman"

- Robert Plant & Alison Krauss "Raising Sand"

- Radiohead "In Rainbows"

 

Here my favorite is Ne-Yo's, but Coldplay will probably take this one as well, although the Plant/Krauss colaboration could be an upset.

 

Song Of The Year

 

- American Boy (sung by Estelle & Kanye West)

- Chasing Pavements (sung by Adele)

- I'm Yours (sung by Jason Mraz)

- Love Song (sung by Sara Bareilles)

- Viva La Vida (sung by Coldplay)

 

Again, I'd say Coldplay will grab it, though "I'm Yours" might ring a bell to Grammy Voters, as the song is a current Top 10 smash.

 

Best New Artist

 

- Adele

- Duffy

- Jonas Brothers

- Lady Antebellum

- Jazmine Sullivan

 

I'm still wondering why the hell the Jonas Brothers are nominated and Leona Lewis or Jordin Sparks are not. Still, the award should go to Adele or Duffy. I put my money on Duffy.

 

I'll throw a few more of my favorite categories:

 

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance

 

- Adele "Chasing Pavements"

- Sara Bareilles "Love Song"

- Duffy "Mercy"

- Leona Lewis "Bleeding Love"

- Katy Perry "I Kissed A Girl"

 

I guess Perry's performance might be a harbinger of things to come, but I'd say Lewis will grab this one.

 

Best Dance Recording

 

- Daft Punk "Harder Better Faster Stronger"

- Hot Chip "Ready For The Floor"

- Lady GaGa Featuring Colby O'Donis "Just Dance"

- Madonna "Give It 2 Me"

- Rihanna "Disturbia"

 

I hope Lady GaGa wins this one. The odd thing is that "Just Dance" did not make it to number 1 on the Dance Charts, but still chart positions do not matter for the Grammys.

 

Best Electronic/Dance album

 

- Brazilian Girls "New York City"

- Daft Punk "Alive 2007"

- Cyndi Lauper "Bring Ya To The Brink"

- Kylie Minogue "X"

- Moby "Last Night"

- Robyn "Robyn"

 

As much as I'd like's Kylie's underrated album to get it, I believe the award will go to Daft Punk. Robyn and Cyndi Lauper's efforts are magnificent and so deserving as well.

Finally, Best Female Country Vocal Performance

- Martina McBride "For These Times"

- LeAnn Rimes "What I Cannot Change"

- Carrie Underwood "Last Name"

- Lee Ann Womack "Last Call"

- Trisha Yearwood "This Is Me You're Talking To"

 

There's no denying it's tough for a female country artist to reach number one these days, unless your last name is Underwood or Swift. The former song did not do much for me, so I hope the award goes to the beautiful ballad by Trisha Yearwood.

i knew it, even before the Nomination Night that the Grammy will once again ignore Celine. this is gonna be an absolute trainwreck for sure.

Though I like some of the nominations, I'm also pissed that Celine wasn't nominated at least in the Music Video Long Form category. I haven't checked Rihanna's DVD, but I'm 100% that Celine was so deserving of grabbing that nom.

I hope Beyonce performs. An award show isn't that good if there's no Beyonce. She brings the entertainement and without her there's something missing.

I sucked at my predictions, getting only 2 right, but honestly, does Alison Kraus deserve to win every time she gets nominated? She won like 4 awards and 3 of the major ones!

i'm wondering why's she the most awarded artist of all time by the Grammys. what's with her music? she's nothing special. absolutely overrated.

I guess a huge majority of the Grammy voters are absolutely conventional and traditional. I wonder whether all members vote in every category or in their field of expertise.

Look at the dance awards, for example. It is well-known that Daft Punk is a well-recognized artist and I'm not the one to say they didn't deserve to win, but both awards to them? And there were different nominees in both categories. Probably if someone did not know their music but know they have been awarded in the past, then they cast their vote and gave it to them. I don't know whether the whole voting process is rigged in a way. The Grammys used to be fun.

i think that the grammys this year sucked!!! no one good was recognized, i mean i love adele and taylor but i mean alison did not deserve to win.
