SensationalCeline Posted January 31, 2009 at 02:19 AM Posted January 31, 2009 at 02:19 AM Please tell me that it did. I accidentally knocked my phone in the toilet this morning when I was getting ready for school. I had already flushed it and then I lifted up the lid to see if it flushed and my phone was on the counter and I knocked it in. It's not turning on right now but I'm wondering if you let it dry out if it will like in a couple of days....any advice? Krys Posted January 31, 2009 at 02:59 AM Posted January 31, 2009 at 02:59 AM did you press the power button right after you took it out of the toilet? if you did, there's a high chance that something in the phone burned out thus rendering the phone useless try Googling about different solutions. there are a lot of other people accidentally dropping their phones into the toilet lol. once i read there was a guy who walked into the sea with his phone in his pocket Quote

Bellamy Posted January 31, 2009 at 04:09 AM Posted January 31, 2009 at 04:09 AM I've read somebody pick his phone from wash machine after 30 minutes wash, and it's still working after completely dried out. Anyway.. I think your phone will be fine. Just make sure it dries out completely. A friend of mine spilled a glas of cola over the keyboard of his laptop. He couldn't do anything with it for four days, but after that it worked fine. And I think cola is even worse than water, so the phone will live Edited January 31, 2009 at 02:50 PM by CelineRules! neilg Posted January 31, 2009 at 04:27 PM Posted January 31, 2009 at 04:27 PM My cordless phone at my old work fell into the toilet. It turned on, but the display was damaged, and I couldn't call anyone. The store where I used to work decided to send it away to be repaired rather than buy me a new one, and it took weeeeks! Quote
reamary Posted January 31, 2009 at 05:47 PM Posted January 31, 2009 at 05:47 PM Hehe, I have quite a few times wondered what if I accidentally dropped my phone into the toilet. Sometimes I have it on my coat's pocket and I sometimes think what if it slipped out if I accidentally lift my coat up too much or too fast. Anyway, at least for now I haven't done so. did you press the power button right after you took it out of the toilet? if you did, there's a high chance that something in the phone burned out thus rendering the phone useless try Googling about different solutions. there are a lot of other people accidentally dropping their phones into the toilet lol. once i read there was a guy who walked into the sea with his phone in his pocket You know my brother did this some years ago. He had his phone on the pocket of his trousers and he walked into the lake not remembering that he had the phone on the pocket.. The phone was dead after that. destin139 Posted January 31, 2009 at 06:16 PM Posted January 31, 2009 at 06:16 PM i havent ever dropped mine in the toilet lol but i did drop it in the sink. i just put it straight on the radiator for a couple of days and then put it all back together and it was fine. i think the problems occur if you try to switch it on when the phone is wet - thats when it fuses out or something (im not all that technical!)good luck - i hope it works! Allie Posted January 31, 2009 at 08:22 PM Posted January 31, 2009 at 08:22 PM Being a huge klutz, I've dropped numerous phones in water. I've dropped it in the freaking ocean, the sink, the bath...strangely not the toilet though. Each time I would take out the battery as soon as I got it out of the water and let it dry a few days and I've never had any problems with any of the phones - no defects, they all worked perfectly. She followed me into the bathroom, and landed on me, but then she started falling off. It all happened kind of fast and scared me for a second, but I caught her before she landed in the toilet. I know some people whose pets have actually fallen in, though! So now we have a strict rule around here, keep the toilet lid closed!! Quote

Depending on the type of phone A couple of years ago I was taking pictures for the fire & police department during a severe flooding when I lost my phone in water where it was +/- 0,5m depth. After a search of 15 minutes I finally found my phone... I left it to dry in my car on the heater and after an hour it just worked fine... It was a Nokia 6310i, the best phone Nokia ever made... Still works today as my backup phone Edited February 1, 2009 at 10:39 AM by Bralo20 Quote ...

SensationalCeline Posted February 1, 2009 at 08:21 PM Author Posted February 1, 2009 at 08:21 PM Well, the good news is that it turns back on and I called someone (thank god I know my speed dial) but the bad news is I can't see the display..... SensationalCeline Posted February 2, 2009 at 12:53 AM Author Posted February 2, 2009 at 12:53 AM That's what I figured. I'm thinking it's just the screen so I'm letting it dry out for a few more days. At least it turns back on, that's the good thing. celinestar Posted February 2, 2009 at 02:57 PM Posted February 2, 2009 at 02:57 PM Yes i've dropped my phone in the toilet before! I just wrapped it in a towel with a hot water bottle and put it near a radiator. It worked fine after it had dried out... some parts didn't work for a few more days but eventually it was all fine thankfully!!!!! Krys Posted February 3, 2009 at 12:09 AM Posted February 3, 2009 at 12:09 AM who knows, sometimes the phone is in the pocket and it might accidentally fall out while you're flushing or something lol. weird things happen when you're not expecting it Quote
celinerific Posted February 3, 2009 at 12:26 AM Posted February 3, 2009 at 12:26 AM If you're lucky, it'll work again... My friend short circuited her phone once by dropping it into a fountain and it stopped working ever since, so there's a chance it might've died. I hope it works again for you though. RLAAMJR. Posted February 6, 2009 at 10:46 PM Posted February 6, 2009 at 10:46 PM you are very lucky. it's very rare, i mean, it's actually impossible that it will still work. once exposed to water, electronic gadgets would usually die and will no longer operate. you are a very lucky person. Quote
