LD1977 Posted May 22, 2005 at 10:13 AM Posted May 22, 2005 at 10:13 AM (edited) Yesterday I was taping a video with tv-appearances of Céline for someone else and the one thing that I just had to put on it, was L'amour existe encore at Show pour la vie. For the people who missed this, Céline was in the middle of her break at that time, she was asked to perform after the terrorist attacks in the USA. She performed at Tribute to heroes in America of course, and it was really special to see that, but the one thing that really moved me was Show pour la vie. This was a benefit-show in Canada and she also performed there. She sang 'L'amour existe encore'. I remember it so well, they broadcasted it at night here in Europe, really late and I was in my bed. I made sure my alarmclock was set for it and I watched the show while I was half sleeping, I waited untill Céline came on stage. The audience was going crazy and there she was, pure Céline, no big dress or much make-up, just in her jeans, a simple blouse and her hair in a ponytail. As far as I am concerned, this was not the artist or big star Céline standing there, it was the person Céline. She was modest and pure. I once translated the lyrics and I knew this song was really appropiate for this occasion. But I did not know she would give it all! She started simple but when the lyrics got really suitable she screamed it out, you could see and hear she was so angry but there was also so much hope and believe in the song and the way she sang it. I am always proud of her but that night I could not be more proud. She made me cry and she showed me even more that she is a true person, someone that takes responsability and gives hope and comfort to many people. I will never forget that night and the feeling she gave me. It's a long story but my question is: what appaerance of Céline touched your heart like this one touched mine? Mozinha Posted May 22, 2005 at 12:16 PM Posted May 22, 2005 at 12:16 PM Yes, it did. I stayed up all night to watch this live and it was worth it.I was really missing Celine since she was on her break and it felt so good to see her again for the second time in less than 2 weeks. (She had performed God Bless America) She said on her bio that when her break started, she would not sing until 2 years had passed by not even if she was invited to sing in Mars to some aliens And than, there she was, singing, because she knows her music can touch and confort people, can bring some love and some hope for brighter days. That's why I say she will never leave music forever like some people think (but that's another topic LOL) I really love to watch her, she looked simple, no fashion clothes, she was really not trying to stand out, she just wanted to sing her message. It was pure and simple but still AMAZING. LD1977 Posted May 22, 2005 at 12:40 PM Author Posted May 22, 2005 at 12:40 PM Ah yes, Fly at Oprah is in my top 3 too, incredible how she could sing that while her sister was sitting there too, crying... I saw a bootleg-video of a concert in Belgium, I think it was in Gent. She sang Fly there too at the end of the concert and she dedicated it to Julie and Melissa, two children that became victim of Marc Dutroux. The taping is not that good but when you hear the emotions in her voice, it touches your heart. Incredible and so impressive! 1Celine12 Posted May 23, 2005 at 06:56 PM Posted May 23, 2005 at 06:56 PM "If I Could" from A New Day... show in Vegas. She dedicates it to the parents and children of the world, and her very own Réne-Charles. I love how she sings that song. She sings it with such emotion. I love that performance. Quote
