Foods we have for holidays and some weird foods for other coutries

Id like to open this topic since im talking to a friend and asking her about foods in xmas...then i told her we had lechon..where in she dont know what it is and i let her look at the pic and she freaked out..HAHAA..

 

coz in other country specially during thanksgiving or new years they have turkey...while in philippines we have LECHON(its a pig).. ..its really delicious though..

 

and i also have the pic of BALOT...its an egg of a duck i think..im not so familiar with those coz i dont eat those...but most filipinos love it. also durian..its a fruit but some dont know this fruit and some say its weird..

 

also i want also to know some foods in your country which is kinda weird to others...

in a way we could know those kind of foods...

AND I SHOWED YOU "CURANTO" a typical food of the south of Chile,

the people make a hole on the ground and they put saefood, so they put leafs, and then they put hot stones, the stones make cook the seafood..

That isn't food, that's a graveyard... Poor animals.

 

Note that I don't mean to insult you or your culture- my family also eats ham and seafood and turkeys at Christmas- but it makes me so sad when you can see what the animal looked like when it was alive. I'll stick to tofu

Mmm..mämmi. Which is a traditional Finnish Easter dessert.

Mämmi is made from water, rye flour and powdered rye malt, seasoned with dark molasses, salt and dried, powdered Seville orange peel. The mixture is then allowed to go through a slow, natural sweetening process before being baked in an oven until set. Generally mämmi is eaten cold with either cream and sugar, vanilla sauce or vanilla ice-cream.

I eat it with cream and sugar. mm..it's so good even tho it looks like s***

Kalakukko is made from fish baked inside a loaf of bread. It's good but I don't eat it often..only like once in a year.

That's called Morcela in Portugal... I don't think it's exactly the same thing but it's very similar.

 

Well... In Portugal we have some unusual stuff... Specially sweets... and we do almost anything with Codfish (the tourists always come and ask for 'Bacalhau'). I'll have a look around and I'll post later.

Mustamakkara is made by mixing pork, pig blood, crushed rye and flour, after which it is stuffed into the intestines of an animal like most sausages. And yeah..it is really good!!

We also eat blood pancakes (veriletut) which are often made of cow or pig blood.

i would luurve to try that blood sausage and blood pancake they look yum i tried duck's blood and pig's blood before. they were in this coagulated form and used in like different kind of soups.

Some of the food looked delicious. Although I haven't tasted that yet but I am sure if I go to any of these countries listed above (I think especially south america) I will probably enjoy loads of different cuisines.
