Movie ticket prices

Movie ticket prices has been increasing throughout the years. I remember the days when it only costs $7 to watch a movie, $9 at one point, now it's $10.50 I mean is there a point when watchiing a movie at the theaters isn't worth it? Drinks and popcorn costs are way too expensive, I've only bought a drink at the theater once, the other times, I'll just get a drink/nachos from an outside store. So, how much does it cost for a movie/cinema in your town?

Well, here in my area (a very small one in Germany ) movie tickets cost about 7-8 €. But on Mondays and Tuesdays it's only 3.50 € cause they have a special "Cinema Day" then But you can't buy Popcorn or a Drink without getting poor.....

Whoa... :| and I complain about our movie prices.. it's cheaper just to WAIT for the DVD and get it at the store. : p

 

Here it cost $5 for the afternoon and $7 at night in the regular theater if you go to the Dollar Movies (3 month old movies) it's 1.00 all day and 2.00 at night.

Well this IS Hollywood..... and it costs you a mind blowing like $14 to go to a frickin movie!! I mean MY GOD what is up with that?! It's RIDICULOUS!!! I never go to movies anymore.. it's no loss, I can never sit still through them anyways....

Here is 4.50 euros everyday, 3.50 for students.

Comparing to you guys, it's not expensive but it used to be much cheaper.

In my country tickets cost about 3 - 5 euros so it will be about 6 $ i suppose... there are cheaper theathers but they give an old films... the cinemas are trying to have as many people on the audience as possible so thay make many "promotions" such as...

The night in the cinema (you pay about 5 euros and stay in cinema for the night & then get the brekfast there),

Women afternoon (to the cinema come only women they watch the movie and then for egz. get free samples of cosmetics)

In one of the cinema you can get the ticket price off if you've got someting yellow on you (the cinema's name is "Lemon")

In Finland it's about 8 euros in the bigger cities, which is like $10. In the smaller cities it can be less and I think in Helsinki(the capital) it's even more than 8 euros.

 

Oh and we don't even get student discounts

it's about 4-15 USD mostly here, depend on which movie, which theater. but Chinese earn not much, so movie ticket price is over-priced here for sure.

Tickets in New York are pretty high. Like Vic said, it's at least $10.50 USD. I love going to the movies but I don't go regularly, only when it's a movie I'd go crazy for. But I'm posotive that at certain theaters in Manhattan, prices are higher than $10.50. Some theatures are HUGE! But I guess for thoses who have the money, the money you spend going to the movies is no object. But I'm to poor to think like that.

 

Actually, prices are probably just like Vic's. lol

Their between $7-11 here as long as you go before 5:00pm you can get early show prices or if you have a student ID you can get a discount too. It does suck that the prices are so high now, I remember a few years ago the highest price was only $5.50.

 

We do still have a few drive-in movie theaters and there you get to see 2 movies for only $5.00 and they're new releases too.

Actually around here the cheapest tickets are theaters ithin malls and that's like $8.50

I'm just like you! I hate popcorn! lol I never buy it when I go to the movies. I find nothing special about it, and I don't think it taste all that good.

That's the first time I've heard of those kind of promotions. I've only watched 2 movies with my student discount $5 - Jackass and Bruce Almighty that theater was horrible too.

$9.50. The matinee price is $7,I believe. I must agree with you all and say the price IS ridiculous! :Grr:

If they weren't so creative the cinemas would go for good... Even the price of ticket isn't for you so big you must understand that the average man earns here about 150 - 200 euros for month...
